[ Solved ] Zentyal 3.0 samba4 problem

Hello,

First of all congratulation to the Zentyal team with the new release 3.0

I have installed the new release from the Zentyal iso Cd, the installation works fine without any problem.Now selecting a group of modules to install is ok ( office and infrastructure ) the problem in Rc-1 is solved.

The samba module hase still some errors:
Defining an user afther the fields are filled in, and click on the tab to execute the definitions of the user a blank screen appears and nothing happens the user is not created.
Defining a group hase the same problem, afther fill in the fields and click on the tab to create the group a blank screen appears and the group is not created.
Defining a share ( zentyal share not a specifique other map ), the share definitions appears in the menu but the map is not created.

Afther uodating release 3.0.0 to 3.0.1 ( where there are improuvements of Samba ) the problmems ares still the same:
It is not possible to define a user or group , by saving the definitions a blank popu scree appears and notthing happens.

De fining a share under zentyal , the map is not created.

File serving in 3.0.1 still does not work.

The problem with users and groups , and also the problem with shares under Zentyal is solved.

In the release 3.0.2 is the problem solved.

Updating your previous version does not solve the problem.
A brand new installation of Zentyal is needed to solve the problems.
Afther installing a compleet new software you can define users and groups and also the shared map under zentyal is created now.

Thanks to the Zentyal team for the solution, go on with this verry nice product.

Hi Ian,

I did a fresh install today with a new download and still can't get Samba to work. Samba modules won't save. Same message as before: FATAL: Couldn't connect to samba LDAP server.
How did you do it?

I have the same problem. Clear installation(x86, x64), updating all.

Hello,

The only thing that i did was a compleet new installation ( not an upgrade because that solve not the problem ).

Afther the new installation i could define users and groups and also create shares, the defined users and group are saved without any problems. The shares are created and the share maps are also created.

So install a brand new server software ( 3.0.2 )
The istallation was done with a CD burned from the ISO file

Hi I was just wondering how do you know which version of zentyal you have my dashboard only lists 3.0 does that mean I have v 3.0.0?

You can see the zentyal version in the main menu of the Zentyal gui ( for me it is 3.0.3 )

P.s. there are still some other problems with Samba 4, login of windowsd clients and netbios naming of the server.
It is already posted as ticket #5240

1. I was just wondering you said you installed zentyal 3.0.2 you mean the beta release candidate 2 right?

2. You also said that you installed this from cd burnt from the .iso, do you mean on bare metal not a virtual machine?

3. Lastly did you install modules one at a time leaving file sharing and authentication until last? if so what modules did you have installed before you did this. Just the rest of the office package or for example also infrastructure?

I work with the stable version of Zentyal ( 3.0.3 ) at the moment, not with beta releases.

My zentyal server is installed on a dedicated computer not in VM or virtual box.

On my server i have installed zential office and zentyal communication, afther installation i activate the modules in the zentyal gui and then i start with my configuration of users shares groups etc.

To clearify: Zentyal core latest version is now 3.03 (3rd minor update of the core module since release)
If you look at the version numbers of the modules in the webinterface you can see the installed version.

how do you get off zentyal 3.0?
do you run sudo apt-get update to achieve that?

also I should be fine using the one interface and ip binding to connect to both the internet and a client right? (I'm using virtualbox with a 32bit iso of the 2nd rc of 3.0, my interface is configured to use NAT and I've assigned 2048mb of RAM and 30GB of DISK, does that all seem ok?)

If you want to update from 2.3RC2 you probably need to add the zentyal 3 repository in your sources.list The apt-get update and apt-get upgrade.
