Installation and Upgrades / Problems and diferences betwen Linux/OSX Samba and W8.1 - roming profiles
« on: November 13, 2013, 12:23:36 am »
Hi,
I feel a bug http://trac.zentyal.org/ticket/7692 about this problem:
When mounting the user folder in linux, it don't mount the files that the home folder have, but in Windows 8.1 it roaming all the files in the folder (please see the attachement). In Linux I've the SSO with pam, wher Pam is in /etc/security/pam_mount.conf.xml This deployement works with 3.0 but not with 3.2.
In the OSX in the 3.0 server, via finder > connect to server > smb://nameoftheserver i can mount all the shares and the home folders of the user, in 3.2 i can't mount the home folder, and I can't copy from the server files, gives me that i don't have permissions.
Please see the attachments of W8.1 and the Ubuntu 12.04 workstation
Some of you are suffering from the same problem?
Best Regards
Miguel

Installation and Upgrades / What change in Zentyal-samba and LDAP with kerberos?
« on: October 26, 2013, 10:12:19 am »
Hi,
I'm not a IT guy, and I've some doubts about this situatio, and if someone can help me out understand I appreciated.
I've to 2 servers: the frist one is a 3.0 server (production) and the second is a 3.2 (test). The test server is a "replication" of the production server. Soo I start to have problems with samba in the test server and use some workarounds that people put in the forum and in bugs reports.
About samba:
In 3.0 the shares have this permissions
/home/samba/shares# ls -la
total 64
drwxrwx---+ 7 root __USERS__ 4096 Mar 22 2013 .
drwxrwx---+ 4 root __USERS__ 4096 Mar 20 2013 ..
drwxrwx---+ 3 sync __USERS__ 4096 Out 25 18:55 contabilidade
drwxrwxrwx+ 3 sync __USERS__ 4096 Out 21 09:58 filosoft
drwxrwx---+ 10 sync __USERS__ 4096 Out 25 11:53 geral
drwxrwxrwx+ 36 sync __USERS__ 20480 Out 24 18:43 partilha
drwxrwx---+ 11 sync __USERS__ 4096 Ago 26 15:33 solicitadoria
In 3.2 they have
drwxrwx---+ 18 root Administrators
Anyone now way they change this? The files in the folders are owned by root Administrator, so we lost track of how change what correct? Is this possible to reverse in some config files or Zentyal going to change this?
LDAP withe Kerberos
In the office we make some work in the costumers "home" and we need the Laptops to go with us. We have a Mac pro, and in the office with the Kerberos authentication (we created the tickets needed) when we connect to the server via finder with "smb://servername" we can chose in the finder, the home of the user, and all the shares!
In the 3.2 server, we can only choose in finder the shares!
What was change in this part? Anyone know?
Best regards and thanks for the inputs that some can give.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Error after reinstall Zentyal 3.2
« on: October 26, 2013, 09:49:20 am »Hi,
I want to use zentyal with 2 hard drives.
First I used this command mount -t ext3 /dev/sdb1 /mnt/storage. And everything ok.
I want to mount permanently this drive. So I reinstall Zentyal and setup partition manually.
As ext3 ( / + swap + home) And after reinstall I have some problems with samba. Next I try with / + swap + manually /mnt/storage
My error: The following modules failed while saving their changes, their state is unknown: samba
My next question, whats is wrong. Maybe partition...??
May next step will be automatic install, and mount sdb hdd with command. Maybe edit fstab. But what solution is correct
Hi,
your problem is similar to mine and some other people. If you search the forum you will see that samba have problems. For me it was soved in 3.2.6 module (partial) but in the new update one user is reporting problems (I don't update yet) see this link: http://forum.zentyal.org/index.php/topic,18578.0.html
You can browse the bugs reports to see if are work arounds: http://trac.zentyal.org/report/1?sort=ticket&asc=0&page=1

Installation and Upgrades / Re: SAMBA Error
« on: October 03, 2013, 12:58:07 pm »
I find the file in my production server and have copy the thing, now everything is ok, i can see the shares, but the guest access is not possible http://trac.zentyal.org/ticket/7380
Now I've another problem, In 3.0 i use kerberos, and the MAC users can connect to the server, browse the home folders and the shares. Now they only can see the shares, not the home folders. Have i to reexport again the /homes in the server and make a new kerberos ticket?

I did this way :
sudo sed -ri 's/zentyal(.)3.0/zentyal\13.2/g' /etc/apt/sources.list
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
this what the Zentyal tells to do.
sudo sed -ri 's/zentyal(.)3.0/zentyal\13.2/g' /etc/apt/sources.list
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
