« on: July 05, 2011, 12:11:18 pm »
thank you for the steps to create a mail server with Zentyal 2.0.21

I create a virtual domain "mytest.fr"
I created users with an address "ab@mytest.fr"

what should I do for this server is in place and I can send and receive mail through this address?

No sorry I will not happen.
What I have to do for smtp, pop? is it the ISP's smtp and pop or do I customized those two with the domain name to create (smtp.mytest.fr)
I created two users how they communiquent them internally?

In your DNS zone you have to create your mail exchanger for exemple
mail.xyz.com
priority 10

and your have to create in your DNS zone mail.xyz.com and pop.xyz.com (or imap.xyz.com, or both if you use both)

Did you create a virtual mail ?
Are you sure you can send mail with your mail server with your ISP ? because, ISP often block send mail with another mail server ?

Could you say us what did you do until now ?

Adil,

I might be wrong but feel you mix up "internal" and "external" services.
You have to distinguish between "internal" and "external" because you can do almost everything within you internal network as you manage DNS, IP addressing etc.. while "external" services are potentially restricted depending on what your ISP provides.

Looking at "internal" services only (and focusing on mail obviously):
- user's mail client has to be configured to point to Zentyal mail server (either POP or IMAP) and also use Zentyal as SMTP server.
- users need to be configured as Zentyal users with mail service enabled.
From there it should be straightforward for them to send/receive mail "internally".

Sending mail to internet "may" work too assuming your ISP doesn't block port 25 to mail servers not managed by your ISP (this is often done to limit spam and avoid ISP's addresses to be blacklisted. This can be solved by relaying mail via your ISP MTA.

Problem, once mail has been sent to internet using your @mytest.fr, is to receive replies :-)
it's very unlikely that you have spend money for such "test" domain. You should better use real domain and this cannot be done "for free", at least in France. You must rely on registar that will handle this request and set up domain  for you on their own DNS. Then, as Christophe just explained, your DNS zone will contain MX record pointing to SMTP server. This can be any SMTP server configured to receive mails for your domain. If you have fixed IP address, Zentyal can be used (this is what I do  ;)) otherwise mail will be delivered somewhere else and retrieved by Zentyal.

So, to make a long story short, before we can help you further, you have to tell us more about your preferred scenario  :)

does it help  ???

Traduction (français > anglais)
thank you christian

agreed we'll go step by step, we start with the internal mail
how to make two users send each other emails?
I wish I had concrete examples with the steps
what do I need to configure on Zentyal?
how the connection should be done with the positions of users?

thank you

sorry but I do not understand the logic operation

Where can I find this tutorial ?

Such tutorial doesn't exist yet  ;D

Well, I agree, we could start with this one, both in English and French, or rather one after the other. I'm a bit more comfortable with English first, although I'm French  ;) because I work mainly in English.

What I would like to clarify with you, Adil, is what you set-up still now and where you stand compared to Zentyal documentation that is explaining almost everything already.
If you follow this documentation http://doc.zentyal.org/en/mail.html, then sending/receiving "internal" mail should be straightforward, assuming you have properly configured mail clients. Even with no mail client configured, you can still check using Webmail.

Is there a need for "official" documentation translation (I hope answer is NO  :o)

christian thank you I am more comfortable in french from English, I can understand it but to write the disaster
for the mail, I have created a virtual domain "mytest.fr"
but what it must match an existing physical server which will then Zentyal ca.
I have created users in Zentyal now
how to set up these users on the machines with which the client and pop, imap and smtp
