Samba installed as a PDC and DNS entries - how to setup

hi,

i would like to setup a ebox as a PDC but i am not sure about the values to enter in the File Sharing (samba) for:
domain name
netbios name

and are these related to any DNS entry that i have to create?

what i am confused in particular is with the fact of 'domain name' - do i have to have an entry with similar name for it?

Hi Nicolas,

Netbios name -> Name that your eBox machine will use to announce itself on the LAN, i.e. name that windows machines will see

Domain name -> Name of the domain where eBox will be domain master.

If you are going to use eBox in a LAN, that means all your computers can see each other's broadcast you won't need DNS stuff for the PDC.

so if i setup my samba with:
domain name in: lan.somewww.net
netbios: localpdc

it would also match entries on my DNS server for:

zone: lan.somewww.net
host: localpdc

would such a configuration be correct?
