Zarafa/Exchange/Outlook/IMAP
« on: October 10, 2010, 03:52:25 am »
Setting up my mail account on my iPhone.  I was able to get mail to send and receive using IMAP - I had to open up the following ports on my router and forward them to the internal IP of my server:

25 Incoming mail
80 Incoming /webaccess
143 Incoming IMAP
443 Incoming https
587 (Im told its used for exchange, may not even be needed)
993 SSL port for incoming mail

Now, I want access to the calendar and contacts, so I'm trying to set it up as an Exchange ActiveSync account.  No dice.  Have no idea what I'm doing with this one.

Anyone have better luck?  I could try on Outlook as well, just need to know what I have to do on Zentyal to get that part working.

Zentyal includes OSS Zarafa which doesn't have the Outlook stuff enabled. For mobile sync try these packages: https://launchpad.net/~bencer/+archive/ebox.

OK.  Do any of those products in that link provide calendar and contacts to an outlook/thunderbird type client?  What about for the mobile devices?

It seems to be a link to z-push (im guessing activesync type push notification) and the other one seems to be some kind of Zarafa management piece.  I looked around on that site but couldn't find any sort of documentation for what it is or how to install/use it.

Does anybody know if you can get the calendar and contacts over IMAP?  I can see them in the /webaccess interface, so I know they exist...

Exchange type access seems to work fine with an android phone. I have mine connected and it retrieves mail calendar and contacts I'm assuming via the zpush integrated into zentyal's zarafa.
the problem may be that IOS4 on iphones will use ssl connection to an exchange server which I dont believe is supported yet.
Happy to be proven wrong if anyone else has any thoughts.

I've been told of IOS4 phones syncing to Zentyal Zarafa using z-push 1.4.

Any news on this topic?
I have just tried to configure my ios4 based iphone choosing Exchange server, without success.

It only worked on IMAP mode.

I have the impression that I will have to use the Caldav gateway option in Zarafa.

I have never used (and probably never will use) an iPhone, but for what it's worth, android (in my case 2.1 on my HTC Hero) is working like a charm using activesync.

Maybe THIS topic on zarafa forums is interesting

The Iphone4 can by used via active-sync. Please enable Active-Sync under Groupware. Make sure, that your server can be reached with the following address from outside the world

http://[your-server-ip]/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync

An authentication dialog should be shown. You should be able to log in with your user credentials from zentyal.

(regarding to the z-push - FAQ, see http://z-push.sourceforge.net/soswp/index.php?pages_id=57&t=FAQs)

Altough the url mentioned above is working, it didn´t work with my iphone 3GS (with ios4)
I read that port 443 needs to be open. I will see if that change works.
