What happens to the user created during install - Zentyal rc1
« on: August 26, 2010, 01:26:17 am »
Hi,

I have just installed the latest zentyal rc1. During the install I am asked for a username and password for a new user. I am also asked for the password to use to access the admin webpage.

When I log into the admin page and go to the user section and list users, no users are shown. When I try and create a user with the same name as the one I created during the install, it says that the user already exists.

Could someone please explain where the user is, and also what user the password to access the admin pages is associated with?

Thanks

Marcus

The user you first entered during the installation is a standard Linux administrator user, you can get root consoles with it. The other password is only for the Zentyal web interface, but we have already changed that and now the interface is also accesed with any administrator user (this will be released in rc2 in 1 or 2 days). The users shown on the Users section are LDAP users, for the Zentyal services, they are not system users.

Thanks for that. What does the "administrator rights" check box mean for an ldap user?

What user is needed to allow a windows client to join a domain?

Thanks

The administration rights allow that user to join machines to the Zentyal domain.

If you update to the last 1.5.14 version you will be able to login on the Zentyal interface with the username you created during the installation. The other password is not needed anymore.
