Data backup
« on: December 28, 2007, 01:53:44 pm »
I was wondering what the recommended backup procedure for ebox was regarding file shares and the operating system itself. I understand that the currently available backup module only backs up configuration files.

It would be nice if there was some structured way to create something like an admin share, which basically would export all files in / for some other PC to access and back up.

Currently, I'm thinking of installing rsync and let BackupPC on another host retrieve all the files. Another possibility would be to use remote SSH and pipe the entire filesystem through that.

Any thoughts?

You can choose between configuration backup or full backup. The latter will backup the shared files under /home/samba too.

Suoku: the simplest way is that you download the backup using the samba share to your client machine. And burn the dvd in your PC.

You can enter in the folder with the username/password of any user with administration privileges. Such privileges are granted with a checkbox control in the 'Edit user' screen
