Mac addresses in debian ebox
« on: June 01, 2008, 08:01:52 pm »
could anyone tell me how to use my ebox server mac auth via http proxy
I know it is possible coz in the gui at objects you can put in your desired name ip adress and mac adress !
I`ve tried  putting it in like this XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX and xxxxxxxxxxxx without the colons but no success?
also can i put in the ip as a single one ex(192.168.1.1/32) or must it be (192.168.1.0/32)?
Only people that wants to no more will ask!!

Hi Hannes1985.
If I'm not wrong you have the transparent proxy enabled and you need only the specific MAC listed in ebox can surf the web. For this, first you need set up the "Default policy" to "Always Deny" in the left menu "HTTP Proxy" / "General" this change block any request to HTTP Proxy and then you need create the exceptions for determinates objects that you want allow use of HTTP Proxy, this you can do it in the left menu "HTTP Proxy" / "Object's Policy", only need select the object and set the policy for him, for example "Always allow".

Well, I hope to have helped. Regards.

PS. Remember when you add a object's member as 192.168.1.18/32 refers to a host.

Okay I`ve tryed to use the mac`s but no succes coz i cannot create a spicific ip for example 10.0.0.1 mac 10:11:12:23:aa so i therfore can`t create a list of mac`s and if i put in 10.0.0.0/32 with that  mac i can`t create another in that ip range so if I`ve got a pc on 10.0.0.1 with its mac i cannot create object with member 10.0.0.2 with its mac and when changing my default proxy object to always deny all connections even if i create anouther object where the ip is 10.0.0.0/32 with mac and put  his policy as always allow

Could you help with this please  ???
