.htaccess file

Hello,

     I create on my folder on Ebox server : /var/www a file .htaccess with this content:

     AuthUserFile /var/www/.htpasswd
     AuthName AreaProibida
     AuthType Basic
   
     and i create the file .htpasswd with the command : htpasswd -c /var/www/.htpasswd admin.

     Well, but this not work when i access my server from browser can´t show the login box to authentication .

Please Help-me and sorry for my english hehe XD
