eBox trafficshaping application based service greyed out
« on: December 29, 2009, 02:58:02 pm »
Hi guys. I recently deleted my old gateway and I added a new one. Now I can't select application based service or application based service group under traffic shaping rules. Anyone got any idea?

As you can see the bottom 2 are greyed out and I can't select them. Please help  :)

Do you have the ebox-l7-protocols package installed? Also you will need a l7filter capable kernel. If you have used our installer probably you already have that. If not, have a look at this post: http://forum.ebox-platform.com/index.php?topic=2394.0

I have used eBox for almost 6 months now without issues but I just changed the ISP so I had to delete the previous gateway and add a new one. That's when the problems started occurring. Oh, and to answer your question I did use your installer and both l7 protocols and the kernel are shown installed according to the package manager as it's always been. Is anybody else able to reproduce my problem with deleting a gateway?

Hi, the command output "uname -a" is "Linux ro-srv00 2.6.24-26-server #1 SMP Tue Dec 1 19:19:20 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux"  :D

So you are using a regular ubuntu kernel instead of a -l7filter or -ebox one. Is perfectly normal that the ebox-l7-protocols doesn't work without the specific kernel.

Have a look at this post:

I think the current version is linux-image-2.6.24-26-ebox, you just need to apt-get install it.
