Replacing Windows AD with LDAP using Zentyal
« on: April 30, 2015, 10:37:24 am »
What is the limitations with LDAP comparing to Windows AD
Can we replace Windows AD with LDAP without facing many issues?

what kind of challengeS we may face in changeover?

Present scenario and issues:

there is 300 Plus users.
In that Around 100 is XP machines
often users gets locked. This happens mostly on Mondays after 2 days weekend.
permission issues For users and shared folders. This happens mostly with XP machines.
Sometimes users unable to login. If they disconnect LAN they can login.
And Windows server license cost. If I can move to LDAP by addressing above challengeS, I can use this license for some other purpose. And need not worry about additional CALS.

And can we deploy policies through LDAP to windows machines.?

Thanks in advance
