Having issues with CD-ROM Read Errors
« on: July 08, 2014, 09:10:29 pm »
Downloaded the MD5 Checksum file to make sure my source ISO is not corrupt.

It checks out fine using MD5 Checker and says codes are good.

However, I get CD-ROM read errors during install and have to abort installation.

Have run the disk integrity checker on two different burns.

Say result in corruption.  I'm thinking perhaps, it is my CD-ROM Drive and not the media?

Thank for any input with folks facing similar issue.

Kind Regards,

Tom

Just occasionally over the last couple of years I have had head scratching moments with burning ubuntu iso's.

I have usually had to burn off another or swap the drive.

The strange thing is at a later stage I have used the supposed dodgy drives and all has worked.

Maybe try a USB install of ubuntu and install Zentyal the apt/sources.list way.

Sorry for not being much use, but honest there is a really weird scenario with roms that maybe one day I will understand.

Yes, that's how I got 3.3 on the same box, their distribution from the web site has crapped on on three machines now so I think it is their distro, not the actual drive or media.  Am downloading another ISO image and will attempt one more burn before I go direct to Ububntu and do the Zentyal install from APT as you suggest, seems to be the best work around for crappy old hardware :)

Cheers,

Mr. Thomas
