ebox-internal-backups folder
« on: March 31, 2008, 10:01:22 am »
Hi here,
What a great system this is! I use it for my home network and everyone is happy with it!

one small question: what's the ebox-internal-backups folder for?

It shows when i browse the samba network.

Also, is it possible to access some user's home folders as an administrator?

Hi Stanman,

It's indicated to download a large backup since web browser are not able to handle large files whose volume may reach GiB of data.

I think it is not possible. Administration rights in PDC grants to add machines to the domain by the selected user.

I hope this helps.

ok, thanks. So if there's any large backup made of the user's home folders and other shares. They're in there, so i could use it to make a backup (e.g. on tape)?

You're right :). The user's home folders backup is done by full backup.

Hi,

I have tried to mount an external USB drive ext3 type to var/lib/ebox/conf/backups to back up to an external drive instead of main devices.

The system can read and write with mc, and the prevoius backup copied here is also shown on backup menu of Ebox, but when I want to do a new backup, I got an error message:

Some error has happened in eBox:

Could not save the backup.

Why is this happening?

Thanks for your help.

Oh, I figured out.

Permissons were not set correctly, but with chmod now all set and working.

So this solution could be a tip for anyone wanting to make a backup to external drive, to mount the device to this directory, and than make the backup!
