optimization of the SQUID

Hi all..
I have 80 users in local network...z (3.3.10,[amd athlon II x2 240+4gb ram][firewall + nontransparetn proxy], 2 network card)

I see that the SQUID gives really slow internet. Who makes what optimizations?

Hi,
first, zentyal have a default problem with dns configuration, which gives the illusion that the problem is in the proxy.
You have to enable the caching option in your DNS server. By default it is disabled, and makes slower connections due to delay of the name query for each access to the internet.
Its important too that you not use the content filter. For that you need an excellent hardware.

In your webadmin and DNS server configuration. Will have something similar to "enable caching". Simply mark the checkbox and save.

My version of Zentyal is Portuguese so do not know exactly how it appears in the English version

Other thing tha happen is the categorized list with shallalist. The category porn has many domains. When the proxy to read the url of user, it will compare url by url in list to open page.
Like porn category shallalist has minhões url, this process will be slow.
