Strange problem with Samba Shares
« on: October 27, 2009, 06:55:49 pm »
I have a small Samba domain running 12 users after a recent power outage and an fsck the system appears to be fine but no user is able to copy any files from the server to anywhere c:\, jump drive etc not even admin, users are able to create and delete copy to and move files inside the shared folder. but thats it.

The server has taken a couple of hits thanks to our local power company and office politics so the hard drive is showing DRDY errors and will be changed (hopefully this week)

  • Is it worth me fighting over this issue?
  • If yes (and I am kinda curious) has this ever happened to any1 b4, any suggestions?
  • I suspect this incident is gonna place some emphasis of better server hardware. any suggestions for a good ubuntu compatible server?
