mail raley howto
« on: March 27, 2008, 10:29:59 am »
Has anyone found/written an howto to set ebox platform as a mail relay?
I haven't found any yet.
I'd like ebox to download mails from different pop servers, filter them and then let them be available through pop3 or imap

thanks
G.

ok,
I found how to enable the smtp server which is what I need now urgently.
Which is: I enabled the mail service only and opened port 25 in firewall rules.
However I'd like to add the local network to /etc/postfix/main.cf to have something like this:
mynetworks = 127.0.0.0/8, 192.168.1.0/24
instead of only 127.0.0.0/8.

If I edit the file manually I loose the amendment on reboot.
How can I set that parameter under ebox gui or have it permanent at least?

UPDATE:
I found and changed /usr/share/ebox/stubs/mail/main.cf.mas

many thanks
G.

You may want to grant the relay for that network using Relay policy for objects which is accesible at Mail->General->Settings.

Firstly, you need to create an object at Objects->Add new, which is basically a set of network addresses. In your case, you may add an object called "mail relay" whose single member is network1 whose IP address is 192.168.1.0/24. Then, set this object as allowed object to relay.

I hope this helps to avoid editing a configuration file or template.

Suko on your Q of how to configure a interface you`le have to put in more than 1 network card and log into your GUI goto network /interface (if your dsl connection is on eth0) put jour required ip (192.168.1.0) in at eth 1 and vice verse

HANNES1985:

Check on mail authentication on the general tab of the mail configuration. Act accordingly on your mail clients.
