Unable to install 1.2 on Proxmox KVM
« on: September 07, 2009, 08:44:16 am »
Hi All,

I am totally new to eBox. I managed to install the older 1.0 version on a Proxmox server all worked fine. then i wanted to try out the newer 1.2 version.
The installation on the same Proxmox server went on and at the last reboot I got the following errors:

ata2.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x2
ata2.00: cmd a0/00:00:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/a0 tag 0
ata2.00: status: { ERR }
E: Failed to mount the cdrom...
Installation failed. check contents of /tmp/ebox-installer.log.............

the ebox-installer.log file contains the following lines:

Reading package lists...
Building dependency tree...
Reading state information...
E: Couldn't find package dahdi-modules-2.6.24-24-17filter

dahdi is a module that's used for Asterisk. This proxmox server has a couple of test Asterisk KVM installations, could that have something to do with that?

Any ideas?

Thanks

The problem is that KVM can't read your cd-rom, the dahdi error it's just a consequence of that. I had similar problems with virtualbox, I fixed them just unmounting the CD-ROM from the virtualbox interface before booting the second phase of the installation, and then mounting it again after eBox installer prompt me to do it. I don't know if you can do something similar with that KVM.

Hope this helps!

I'm afraid that I can't help you with Proxmox, but you have two options:

- Burn the .iso and use a real CD-ROM drive if you can
- If Ubuntu Server has been installed successfully, you can install the eBox packages manually following the steps at http://trac.ebox-platform.com/wiki/Document/Documentation/InstallationGuide

Hi,

I use proxmox to host ebox and had the same problem. I tried changing many things and with no luck. Until I rebooted the proxmox box itself, and then the iso was identified correctly.

In the last version of the eBox 1.3 installer the CD is not asked in the second stage of the installation anymore. All the packages are copied to the hard disk during the first stage. So it shouldn't give problems with proxmox.
