3.2 Update - Cannot find CN (Broke Everything)
« on: October 07, 2013, 10:02:57 am »
Stupidly initiated the 3.2 update tonight on a deployed server. Result was that Samba was not installed correctly. Zentyal instructed to run dpkg --configure -a which stated cannot find CN=my domain CN=blah blah in the config file.

Google searches show nothing, reboots, updates/upgrades do nothing. Further updates post-upgrade do nothing. The UI works fine, all of my users show up fine, just no Samba support. Ie. none of my user's accounts work, no domain authentication. I'm forced to reinstall from scratch. Hoping that some of my backup configurations will take afterward or I'm pretty much screwed, back to square one.

I'm not really looking for help, it's too late at this point, I have to reinstall. Just wanted to share in case someone else ran into this so there would be a place to comment. I can't complain as it's free software, just sucks.

Did you try to remove Samba package then install it again?
If I remember well, some users fixed similar issue this way.

Yes; removed, rebooted, installed, rebooted. Still nothing. Funny thing is the Zentyal UI shows that everything is fine. Reinstalling now.
