change the default egroupware language
« on: August 15, 2009, 01:03:15 pm »
you can change the default language in egroupware.

first you need to go to  https://the.ip.ebox/egroupware/setup in your favorite web browser (firefox of course... ;))
then you need a password...
in your x-term write this by ssh ( ssh user@ip.ebox ) or on your server prompt

sudo cat /var/lib/ebox/conf/ebox-egroupware.passwd

now you have the password for the login in the 'Setup/Config Admin Login'

the login : ebox
the pwd  : your password

The username 'ebox' is for the domain configuration, for the header configuration the username is 'admin', the password is the same.

then after select the menu 'manage language'

now you can select your language.(you can choice many of it....press the ctrl-key or the shift-key during the choice)

to use your language for your users, you need to set the language for each users, (in egroupware, menu 'preference/common preferences' and set your language as default)

or if your user is an admin in egroupware (to set this you need to create a new 'user defined template' in the menu 'groupware' of ebox and add the menu 'admin', after in the ebox's menu 'user', you need to activate the right permission template in 'egroupware-account')

you can set the forced preferences in the menu 'preferences/common preferences/forced preferences' and set the language for all your users

you can too, enable the option 'Should the login page include a language selectbox (useful for demo-sites) ?' to yes in the menu 'Admin/site configuration' of egroupware (your user need the admin privilege in the ebox-egroupware menu)

sorry for my english, i'm french

Hello everybody !

I am an old SME user and integrator exploring new and refreshing ideas like ebox - looks very inviting and friendly !!!

I do have a question related to this post :
What about Right To Left support or different encoding ?
I use Hebrew language - it is supported by the interface of eGroupware but the messages writteng in Hebrew looks like simbols and no text.
If i change the page encoding to windows-1255 (from an xp or 7 pc) i then can see the messages but the interface becomes symbols instead of text.

Maybe these pages can help:
http://www.egroupware.org/languages
http://www.egroupware.org/wiki?wikipage=NewLanguageHowTo

As you can see a lot of egroupware isn't translated in hebrew at the moment.
It's also very important to use the right charset.

See this post about the charset: http://forum.ebox-platform.com/index.php?topic=2371.0
