[Solved] Zentyal 3.0 at 100% CPU
« on: February 27, 2013, 01:04:48 pm »
I have upgraded from version 2.2 to version 3.0, the CPU use of the previous version was very low but the version 3.0 use permanentely a 100% of CPU, is this correct? if not, what is the solution?

Thanks,

Best regards,

Hi sorcerer1210:

Of course it is not normal. Check what process(es) is so high-loading your CPU.

That could give you a clue of what way take in order to solve it...

I have upgraded from version 2.2 to version 3.0 ...

It might also be helpful if you briefly describe the update process you used.

I had the same issue with the learnspamd script...

According to this ticket, you need to replace the script with another one. The link to the new script is provided:

http://trac.zentyal.org/ticket/5699

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the tip, Joe. Since the ticket was closed three months ago, I'm guessing updated packages have made it into general distribution by now. But it gives sorcerer1210 something to look for in the process list.

Anytime!

However, I just installed Zentyal 3 last weekend and had to search for this fix and apply it, so it doesn't appear to have been put into the repos as of yet :).

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks by your answers. To upgrade I install a new copy of Zentyal and configure it. The top command show the command collectd using the 99% of CPU, the virtual machine has assigned two virtual CPU,s. I have attached a screenshot. I have configured the Zentyalk like web server, ftp server, mail server and file server, obviously is work the firewall too. I don't know what is the collectd comand, what I can do with this?

Thanks,

Best regards,

christian

I can't help solving the problem but as a workaround, at least, you can stop Zentyal monitoring service.

That's spooky. The high CPU problem with collectd resulted in a patch roughly around the same time, if memory serves. :o

In the area of the Forum in Brazil we have many users reporting this and some resolved by uninstalling and installing monitoring module again. If you do not work just disable the tracking module that will stop the problem, at least until the team Zentyal solve (or not) the problem.

Hi,

Thank you very much to all. Yes, the problem is the monitoring module, if I disable it the problem is solved. I tried to uninstall it and reinstall again but the problem back again, only work if the module is disabled. I go to disable de module permanently until we have a solution for this bug from Zentyal.

Thanks again,

Best regards,

I have to correct myself. I was thinking of an earlier problem with loggerd, not collectd. My bad. I did notice that there is an open ticket for the collectd problem.

That still leaves me curious about the patch from ticket 5699 ...

Friends, this problem is solved as follows:

apt-get remove --purge collectd zentyal-monitor
rm -rf /var/lib/collectd
apt-get install zentyal-monitor

Sds,

Yes, is correct, this solution has resolved the problem with collectd. Now all enabled and working fine.

Thank you very much...
