Ebox + Asterisk
« on: January 27, 2008, 06:49:28 pm »
Hi

It would be very nice to have the Asterisk PBX in EBOX, I havent found a good repository of asterisk 1.4
but it does work built from souce. I would be even better to have the asterisk working as an addon using ldap and all the other features as a whole.

I too would be interested in this.  A good place to take a look might be AskoziaPBX.  Askozia 'aims to make the power of Asterisk available to the average user in a slimmed down, embedded PC friendly form.'

Joretur,

I'm interested to know if you succeeded with the installation and configuration of Asterisk.
I wonder is FreePBX[1] would run as an alternate GUI for Asterisk on eBox.

I will try the combination Asterisk/FreePBX next week, I'm waiting for an FSO card for testing.

I'll keep you posted.

This sound like fun, especially since the ebox-system is able to run Debian / Ubuntu. FreePBX could be one way of doing it, but the FreePBX interface is not easily integrated in Debian / Ubuntu - there some small things that need to be taken care of to ensure that one use the Asterisk that are in the source three, but it's absolutely possible.

 :)

Getting this together as a module would be above and beyond wonderful.

Ok I've been off too many  days and sorry for that.. Well I just followed the tutorial at http://colt45.chemlab.org/?p=55 with some modifications which unfortunately did not document.. These mods are applicable to my setup and for any problem you may find just ask me.. Also another thing is the place where apache must run as asterisk user I just added www-data user to asterisk group and asterisk user to www-data group. Hope these will help you!
