Problem updating samba 5.0.10 on Zentyal 5
« on: October 10, 2017, 03:51:43 pm »
I have been upgrading my system consistently until samba 5.0.10 failed. Since then I tried all possible ways to reinstall and update it but no luck.

It is crucial that I don't loose any of my shares or any data in the shares so I need some help or guidance how to tackle this issue.

The error I get is:

Setting up zentyal-samba (5.0.10) ...
root command mysql --defaults-file=/etc/mysql/debian.cnf zentyal < /usr/share/zentyal-samba/sql/samba_access.sql failed.
Error output: ERROR 144 (HY000) at line 1: Table './zentyal/samba_access' is marked as crashed and last (automatic?) repair failed

Command output: .
Exit value: 1dpkg: error processing package zentyal-samba (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 zentyal-samba
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Any help will greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

sorry, I cannot help , but I have a similar issue...

In my case, a samba update destroys the sambe / LDAP confic and the system is not usable anymore.
This "only" happens on my mail server; the VM running for AD, DHCP and DNS has no issues with the update.

If you have a VM, I would suggest that you try to install package for package (remember to take snapshots) and try to update as much as you can...
It is a good idea to have a (ssh / local) terminal open to watch for errors (tail -f /var/log/ syslog)

Regards

Thomas
