Title: Android and IOS, with which Groupware is working?
Post by: Torsten73 on February 18, 2014, 10:25:55 pm
Hi,
i asked here in german earlier http://forum.zentyal.org/index.php/topic,20518.msg78427.html#msg78427 (http://forum.zentyal.org/index.php/topic,20518.msg78427.html#msg78427)

I still be unable to get active sync working with android 4.3 and ios 7 (iphone). I am wondering what am i doing wrong. My sbs2003 is working fine and had no problems in configuring.
i didn´t find a clear answer if it is possible with openchange or zarafa. With openchange i mean to know, that it depends on sogo, but sogo is only partially integrated in zentyal 3.3 .

So can someone give me an answer, what groupware i must use for both on zentyal togehter? I need to use mail, calender, contacts, todo lists.

And maybe a short explanation for the correct settings in Android or IOS.

I understood that Activesync is not yet implemented in OpenChange. In Zarafa it works fine. However, I only use Activesync with an older version of Zentyal/Zarafa (Zentyal 2.2 with Zarafa 6.4)

Confirmed working with latest Zentyal install and Android Kitkat.  I use the Zarafa groupware product.

today i have proven, zentyal 3.3.4 togehter with zarafa 7.1 is working with ssl on both android and ios 7. But i am unable to connect outlook when using the community connector. It didn´t find the server.

I think Openchange would be a better choice for me, but i couldn´t connect.

latestly maybe we need to wait for full integration of SOGo http://www.sogo.nu/english/about/overview.html (http://www.sogo.nu/english/about/overview.html) combined with Zentyal it would be a great solution.

@Torsten73: This is already the case.

With regards to the original topic -  yes we are very likely to provide activesync packages that work with OpenChange as of Zentyal 3.4. We will not integrate these packages within our graphical interface because we are in a post-freeze period, but they will be available from command-line.

so we need to use zarafa instead openchange till release of 3.4 (on 15.03.14 http://www.zentyal.org/roadmap/zentyal-3-4-roadmap/ (http://www.zentyal.org/roadmap/zentyal-3-4-roadmap/) )
Thats not so long anymore.
Because i am testing and learning, is it possible to install 3.4 over other (testing) repositorys?

Yes, we are producing Daily Build isos: http://wiki.zentyal.org/index.php/Daily_Builds

Yes, i found the docu to it.  It looks amazing for the webmailer improvements, and also the missing support of activesync from 3.3 should be a big stepp in the right direction.

I tried it out this weekend, and found some problems, some are major (like webserver brocken, no /SOGo website with openchange and UTF8 Errors in WebIF for German) but where should i post them?

I found the bugtracker but no bugs for 3.4, and the beta testing forum here is nearly unused. Am i doing something wrong?

Hi,

You are in the right direction.

We indeed have a pipeline of issues to address in 3.4 - mainly caused by the upgrade to Saucy and the apache removal for webadmin. If you find issues, we would appreciate you post them to tracker.zentyal.org and set to the version to 3.4 regardless of the empty 3.4 ticket stack.

All feedback are useful at this point and we have time to fix all pending issues before the release date.

Julien.

Ok i will do this.

But one question, you seems to have a well knowledge about it :-) , i have got now openchange and sogo running, with many reinstallations till i found a working way. But although i installed sogo-activesync by hand (without configuring anything yet) i got no connection to openchange with android and ios. On sogo i found that activesync isn´t in a working state.

Is it planed, that we should be able with 3.4 to use mobile devices with openchange or not? because otherwise i don´t need to spend time in searching for it.

Yes, but with respect to the status of each different implementations we shall provide.
