Installation and Upgrades / Re: [SOLVED]Squid as reverse proxy

In my case it's just for personal use, so squid is ok I think. The only reason for me to use squid as reverse proxy is security. Nevertheless it would be an interesting new feature for zentyal I think.

You are absolutly right, I want to use squid as reverse (for incoming internet traffic) AND as normal caching proxy for my LAN. When I read your reply I thought about the config issue again - maybe reverse proxy doesn`t require any changes, because of the right default parameters but i was unsure so I set some parameters which were not part of the standard zentyal config.

Thanks for the hint, I solved the problem by editing the template file for squid. The location of the templates can be found here

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED]Squid as reverse proxy
« on: October 17, 2010, 01:52:13 pm »
Zentayl 2.x came with the caching Proxy Squid - i want to use squid as caching proxy for the local lan and as reverse proxy for the wan(internet) - its not a big deal, but every time i restart the proxy with the zentyal webgui all my changes in the squid.cfg will be wiped out. What can I do to prevent this behaviour - without braking the zentyal configuration ? Maybe it would be a good idea to enhance the functionality of zentyal with posibility to run a reverse proxy too ?!

Installation and Upgrades / Re: RAID 1 problem with Zentyal 2.0

Mhm, thats not a good idea - its much safer to place /boot  in the first part of the harddisk otherwise you will run into problems with bigger harddisks/old bios, Now you have first 2GB partition for swap and then a big partition with root and boot etc. - You should try this:

1.) 500 MB partition for /boot
2.) 2 GB partition for swap
3.) rest for / mounted

Its simple, safe and should work for all sizes of harddisks and old bios too.

What about your partitions ? Do you have a separate boot partition at the beginning of the harddisk ?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: webmail and groupware (mail) consistency

Hi everybody!

when I read this thread i was surprised and a little bit disappointed. I am running the mail system as IMAP server to collect all mails from different external accounts. Normaly I use thunderbird for mail access, but i wanted to use Zarafa for webaccess and push-mail but now I have to see that Zarafa uses its own mail-storage and can't access Dovecots mailbase - that a pity. Like christian I prefer standard solutions and because of this I do not want to store my mail in a MySQL-database. Ok, I could use just a normal webaccess but I am interested in the groupware features of Zarafa too - so it wouldn't make sense. It would be perfect if Zarafa could handle different mail storages - atm, I think, the only straight forward solution is to use Zarafa for mail storage. Maybe 2-way-sync works too but i do not feel well with it.

best regards
