Installation and Upgrades / Re: Need help on network design/VPN
« on: April 21, 2011, 05:07:45 pm »
I am a complete Noob to this, so take my response for what it's worth, but I had the same problem where I couldn't reach the Zentyal server from my internal PCs. You have to have the internal and external interfaces on 2 different subnets. For instance my internal is 10.0.0.254 and external is 10.0.1.254. Your Gateway would need to be the LAN IP of your DSL and tied to your External interface.

The reason I ran across this post is because I'm trying to figure out for VPN if I need to forward UDP 1194 to the internal interface IP or the External interface IP. Unfortunately I have to go through my ISP to make changes on the firewall, so I can't just trial and error myself. If anyone has the answer to that, I'd appreciate it.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Unable to reach server locally

Wow. I had it setup this way initially and absolutely could not get it to connect to the outside world. I must have had a wrong Gateway value in or something at the time. Thanks for the response and making me go back and revisit that configuration. Works like a charm now.

Cheers!

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED]Unable to reach server locally
« on: April 20, 2011, 09:52:27 pm »
I'm having a really dumb problem and hoping I'm just overlooking something. I have installed a Zentyal server in my environment. Internal interface with IP of 10.0.1.254, external with IP 10.0.1.253. I can reach internet pages on the server. My laptop has an IP of 10.0.1.203, so we're all local here. Subnet Masks are 255.255.255.0. I cannot ping either of the Zentyal IPs from my laptop and therefore cannot reach the Dashboard through FireFox on my laptop. WHY?  Even better, before I sent this, I can ping my laptop IP from the Zentyal server. What am I missing here?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal 2.0 and Asterisk/FreePBX

Sorry again. Like I said, total Linux noob. Regarding that branch, what exactly do I do with that? And what is the end result going to be?

Installation and Upgrades / Zentyal 2.0 and Asterisk/FreePBX
« on: April 08, 2011, 06:01:53 pm »
I am a total noob to Linux and these applications, so please excuse the questions if they are trivial. On a recommendation from a friend, I have installed a Zentyal 2.0 server in our office, and so far love it. It's an incredible piece of software that has been a huge value add to our IT Infrastructure. I'm looking to implement a VOIP for our office and I am confused at the relationship between Zentyal, Asterisk, and FreePBX. It seems there is some Asterisk related things in Zentyal, but I can't figure out if I still have to run an Asterisk/FreePBX install on the box, or if I need to have a separate box for Asterisk and FreePBX. I guess I'm just not understanding how they all relate, and any help on that would be appreciated. I plan on getting a couple of SIP trunks from a provider.

Thank You,
