Hi there!
I just installed/configured DHCP for my LAN and almost everything went smooth.
However, I ran into troubles with DDNS.
  • I added an additional DNS zone for dynamic updates and configured DHCP to use it as a dynamic zone
  • /etc/bind/keys got written fine after saving changes
  • after rebooting my server this morning dhcpd did not start and complained about faulty keys
  • /etc/bind/keys was empty (besides the comment line)

Has anybody else here run into the same problem?

(I already solved this issue by modifying DNS.pm. But before sending out a patch, I'd like to know whether or not I'm alone with this problem. So please let me know what your experience is.)

TIA & kind regards - Oliver

Installation and Upgrades / Beta 2.2 - possible firewall bug
« on: August 02, 2011, 04:51:06 pm »
Today I had to get munin on my internet server talk to my munin-node on my zentyal server.

Therefore I put up a corresponding service (tcp/4949) and went to "Filtering rules from external networks to Zentyal" to allow traffic between these servers.
It did not work, packets were dropped.

"Solution"/workaround: I had to allow traffic in "Filtering rules from internal networks to Zentyal", too.
That was quite surprising! Also if I set "Decision" to "Log" in the external rules, nothing gets logged.

Iptables shows:
Chain iexternal (1 references)
target     prot opt source               destination
RETURN     all  --  anywhere             anywhere
( ... )
Is the "RETURN" statement causing confusion here?
Has anybody else seen this behavior?

Cheers - Oliver
