I was really excited about installing 4.1 from the ISO.  The first time I tried, I had problems
with GRUB partitioning the hard drive (because of a previous install of a Linux os)  Second time,
after reboot in post install, I get a graphics issue where the GUI crashes.  Third attempt, failed to
read the CD rom at various places, and last attempt, would not pull an IP to download install packages.

I decided to burn a Ubuntu 14.04 ISO, it booted right up, pulled an IP from my internet connection, and is humming right through the install. I am going to try to install Zentyal after Ubuntu completes....

This has been a nightmare.

Should I have tried 3.2 instead?

After importing users, via the bulkimports script, some users accounts are disappearing.

Say, for example, I imported 50 users, with no errors, then a user tries to log in and can't.
I then go to Manage Users, and that user is no longer there.  Is there a limit on how many can be imported?

I an unable to find a usable script for version 3.2 that will import users from a csv/text file.
I followed the instructions, for version 3.2, on the Zentyal WIKI documentation but nothing
wants to work.  It either returns nothing, or sometimes I get "  Method ' ' Not Implemented in ' '  "
which is about as vague as you could get I guess.

Anyone had this issue?

I dont receive an error, it just goes back to the command line when I try to execute
the perl "bulkusers" script.  I have the script and the users file in the same folder.

The script is executable, and I am running as root, or sudo.

I am wanting to convert my backup Zentyal controller to a primary, using the included ad-migrate script.
I wanted to see if anyone has used this and what was their experience.

Current config:
Primary DC: MS SBS Server: Server-A
Addit DC: Zentyal: Server-B

Target/Goal config:
Convert Zentyal Server-B to Primary DC
Remove MS SBS Server Server-A
Redeploy Server-A that housed SBS by installing Zentyal on it (Server-A now with Zentyal)
Add Server-A as additional controller
Migrate Server-A to primary
Remove Server-B

Zentyal added to SBS2003 existing domain (SBS Server is running on a Dell Server) as additional Domain Controller, now want to take the SBS Server offline, then install Zentyal on this Server and make it (eventually) the Primary or main Domain Controller.

Any advice or experience on the best way to do this.

Thanks.

When I try to start files sharing and domain services, the little icon just keeps spinning, see attached.
I am trying to set this up as an additional domain controller.

Attached is the error I get when trying to add the File Sharing and Domain services. Then I subsequently get the second error.

I have initially sold my client on test driving Zentyal, and if they like it they are going to purchase the Business Commercial Version.
But, so far the installation has not gone well at all.  I am getting one problem after the other.  Watching all the on-line videos, everything'works
as it is supposed to, but not for me.

Problem 1:  When trying to add Zentyal to the SBS 2003 domain as an Additional Controller I received the error stating that
"Failed to Enable Module File Sharing and Domain Services is Uncompatible (yes this is how it was spelled) with
the current operation mode (Use External Active Directory Server)
Solution 1:  Change the SBS Server Server functional level from Server 2000, to Server 2003.

Try to add as additional controller again....

Problem 2:  Error "Could not join to domain, the following DNS zones are stored in the main domain partition .........
Samba4 will not be able to read these zones. Please move the zones to the DomainDNSZones or ForestDNSZones.......

Solution 2:  still looking ........

I'm not quite ready to quit, but it is getting frustrating....

Anybody know the fix for this?

Thanks.

I have a client with a decent Dell server which is currently running SBS 2003 and is in need of an upgrade or replacement.
They do not have the budget to upgrade to a new server that will support a newer Windows Server OS (2008 or 2012) and the exorbitant
licensing costs that come with these.

My goal is to somehow back up the existing users and import them on a fresh install on Zentyal.  The catch is the client wants to redeploy the existing Dell server with the Zentyal OS. I suppose I could install VirtualBox on the SBS Server and run a Zentyal virtual machine....

Anyone have any other ideas on the best way to accomplish this, other than starting from scratch and manually creating the users on the new Zentyal install?

Thanks.
