Puedes tener fácilmente alta disponibilidad en las conexiones a internet (Zentyal soporta múltiples gateways y WAN-failover), y en el servicio de directorio de usuarios (LDAP).
En mi opinión, también puedes replicar fácilmente configuraciones de proxy y VPN, aunque no sería exactamente "alta disponibilidad" en este caso, y tendrías que hacer algunas cosas a mano, o decidirte por una solución más de compromso... dependería un poco de tus necesidades en particular.

If you are on production, it's early to go with 3.0.
Before uninstalling, I'd rather do a simple test scenario on two virtual machines with fresh 2.2-2 installations, to see if it's something particular to your installation (or related to the upgrade) or a Zentyal bug (I ran a very quick search on the bugs database but didn't come up with anything interesting except perhaps this: http://trac.zentyal.org/ticket/3314 which I am very unsure is related).

I don't think that the slapcat "Available database(s) do not allow slapcat" is the cause of this issue, I don't have a master-slave installation at hand, but if you install on VMs you can check that too.

Lo ideal es que NO se use la memoria swap, así que en ese sentido (la memoria) parece estar bien.
Comprueba si estás limitado por el acceso a disco como te comenté, si no, no sé qué decirte... Si la CPU está al 100%, podrías estar limitado por la CPU.
¿Se trata de Zentyal 2.2 o Zentyal 2.0?

Pues por ahora sí.
Como te comentaba, el soporte para SAI está planeado. No sé si lo introducirán en 3.0 o en 3.x pero está en el roadmap, pero en una próxima versión podremos gestionar los SAIs directamente desde Zentyal.

A versão da comunidade é totalmente funcional, mas não é suportado por Zentyal e você não tem acesso aos serviços de gerenciamento de nuvem.

If I recall correctly, there was an issue that forced you to change the password at least once (once AD sync is installed) for it to be synchonized. Could this be your case?
This will change with Zentyal 3.0 too, as it uses Kerberos and SMB4, without the need for AD synchronization.

Check samba logs on the slave. Using slapcat on both servers to compare the accounts might help too.

When this time is due to service restart, there's not much that can be done.
Sometimes this is due to the high number of entries in the database. This in indeed being (greatly) improved on 2.3 and will be present on 3.0.

Dependiendo de la marca de tu SAI, necesitarás usar unas u otras herramientas.
En el caso más típico y fácil, si el SAI está soportado por NUT (network UPS tools: http://www.networkupstools.org/projects.html), podrás configurarlo (parece que esta guía es para Ubuntu: http://keystoneit.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/network-ups-tools-nut-on-ubuntu/ ).
Si no, tendrás que investigar por ahí para ver cómo hacerlo con tu SAI en concreto. Recuerda que SAI en inglés es UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply).
(Zentyal no tiene soporte para UPS usando NUT, pero está planeado).

Es posible que la máquina se esté quedando un poco corta de memoria. Comprueba si está usando la memoria "swap".
Para esto, te recomiendo usar el programa 'htop', que puedes instalar con 'apt-get install htop' si no lo tienes disponible. En los indicadores de arriba, la barra roja representa la memoria "swap".
Es una posibilidad que haya un cuello de botella en el acceso a disco, puedes comprobarlo con 'iostat -m -x 2' (si no tienes el comando, usa 'apt-get install sysstat'). Si el valor de uso de algún disco es muy alto de forma continuada, puede significar un problema de entrada/salida (si esto sucede en la partición de swap, entonces es que la memoria no es suficiente para esos servicios).

Try the suggestion from jamor, as that's the correct way of replacing the configuration.
However, I think that the openvpn postsetconf hook doesn't work as expected (I think this a bug), and the configuration is written and the service restarted altogether.
I'm using this successfully as a postservice (/etc/zentyal/hooks/openvpn.postservice). Ensure it is marked as executable:
Note how I override the configuration with my own. You need to keep the correct name for your vpn service.
Then, I killl the openvpn daemon that corresponds to that configuration. The daemon is then restarted using the overwritten configuration.
I hope this workaround helps!
