Hi everybody.
yesterday I saw that there were and upgrade, the version 2.3.2.
I installed it and it have some improvements, and now I can add windows to the domain as if I were using version 2.2
good work !
PD. i had to enable PAM in LDAP users because I was unable to log in the systems with the windows machine in the domain. So I was able to add to the domain, but I was unable to log in ...

I've done a new installation, and I have the same problem, again. So I noticed that the "users and groups" service is stopped, is that normal ?
I don't known how to start it.

« on: July 04, 2012, 12:16:10 pm »Can you have a look at this post: http://forum.zentyal.org/index.php/topic,9755.msg41054.html#msg41054I've tried again and i have not luck with that, the windows XP finds the ZENTYAL-DOMAIN, and asks me for an user and password to add the machine to it, but always says me that there is a problem with the name / password of the user.
And report back if it solves your problem?
IE: check if your user is member of group sudo: groups <youruser>
If not, then add the user to the group sudo: adduser <youruser> sudo
IE: check if your user is member of group sudo: groups <youruser>
sudo groups tomeu
result : tomeu adm cdrom sudo dip plugdev lpadmin sambashare admin
If not, then add the user to the group sudo: adduser <youruser> sudo
already done as you can see the result above : adduser tomeu sudo

Don't think so, the client is configuring its IP via DHCP.
Zentyal is the only server in this development LAN

I've tried this again, using the same administrator & password that I use when I login zentyal GUI, but when I try to add an XP machine to the zentyal domain (zentyla.lan), it says to me that "there is an error : unknown username or incorrect password".

How could I add a windows XP to a 2.3 server ?
I cannot set a user as "administrator", son when I try to add a machine to the domain, when I set user/pass i says that "unknown user / incorrect password". So I assume a lack of privileges here.
How can I create an user with this rights, I see that it is not implemented via GUI.

oks, it works now, still having some issues.
I had to autorithe in general settings :

hello everybody
I've used zentyal as a slave of a windows 2003 AD, it works ok, as I can see users and groups.
So I tryied to install proxy-cache and content filtering, but when I go to "gateway->http proxy->group policies" add a new group (wich comes from AD) and an errors occours :
"Global group policy need a global policy with authentication"
and I don't know what else test to solve it.
can you help me ? thanks.

and as I can see in BDC, it should be possible :/

With a Primary Domain Controller (PDC) on the network it is best to have a Backup Domain Controller (BDC) as well. This will allow clients to authenticate in case the PDC becomes unavailable."

Thanks for your answer.
I wanted that to work because my idea is to have a slave in our remote departments. It's a way to have the user unificated, and if the connection is broken, a way to them to still can login in the system and use (for exemple) the files stored in the slave server.

hi all
I'm doing some tests and I've installed 2 Zentyal servers, one of them is LDAP domain primary controller and the other one is an slave of it.
I've tested the slave and I can see the users and grups, so I guess its working properly.
The question is. When I stop the PDC, users can not be validated through the slave ... Is this normal?

Spanish / duda PDC, BDC login usuarios

hola a todos
estoy haciendo unas pruebas y he montado 2 servers zentyal, uno de ellos es el LDAP PD del dominio y al otro lo he montado como esclavo del mismo.
en el esclavo puedo ver los usuarios, hasta aqui todo ok.
la duda que tengo, es que si paro el PDC, los usuarios no se pueden validar a traves del esclavo... esto es normal ?
ya que la idea es tener un PDC centralizado y en otras sedes un esclavo para que se puedan validar.

a mi me paso lo mismo entre dos servers zentyal 2.2. No te sabria decir a ciencia cierta, pero creo que el problema de todo fue el DNS mal configurado.
ya nos contaras.

Hello everybody.
SCENARIO : windows PDC, zentyal slave dc
I've followed this manual, http://trac.zentyal.org/wiki/Documentation/Community/HowTo/ActiveDirectorySync , and everything worked as spected, now I can see the grups and users in the zentyal server, wich works now as a slave dc
SPECIFICATIONS
WINDOWS PDC
ip : 192.168.222.29 / 24
DNS (itself) 192.168.222.29
gateway (router) : 192.168.222.1
ZENTYAL SLAVE
IP : 192.168.222.10/24
