Installation and Upgrades / Re: How to Ubuntu Desktop with Zentyal + Ubuntu Server
« on: November 12, 2010, 01:31:50 pm »
you can simply install Ubuntu64, and if there's packages available, you can add the Zentyal repository to apt-get and then install zentyal.. see the documentation on how to add zentyal to a working machine

i recently came across CSYNC
and why i have no programming knowledge, it does look to me as a serious solution to the windows roaming profile environment!
maybe some of the devs could look into it?
i allready mailed the dev of CSYNC if there's some example online as to how to use it..

Installation and Upgrades / automaticly backup headless server?
« on: October 10, 2010, 10:52:37 pm »
Hello,
For a client of mine i configured a Zentyal server, it works great.
However, now i want them to switch external disks every week, and have Zentyal automaticly backup to it.
How would i do this?
i bought 2 new 1TB disks, one named BKUP_A and once named BKUP_B
the idea is that the client swaps BKUP_A with BKUP_B every even week,
then the Zentyal server automaticly backs up its data to these drives..
but how do i automaticly mount the drive, when its connected through USB?

this can all be done through simple batch scripting..
look for a logonscrip that includes IsMember.exe from the win2k3 resourcekit

try setting the user:group to nobody with chown
chown -R nobody:nobody /root/of/share
that seems to work on my box.. its a little bit unsecure, but it seems to do the trick
because, apearantly, samba users are not system users on Zentyal, thus.. the user you login with, has no access rights to the share, because linux says he/she doesnt exist in his database, wheras they do exist in samba
