Installation and Upgrades / Re: eBox .11.2 PDC part looks broken
« on: January 04, 2008, 02:49:58 pm »
Hi again,
I've just tested the PDC thing and I haven't been able to reproduce your bug. I successfully added one machine to the domain using a user with administration privileges, and I could log into the domain with a normal user from the Windows XP machine.
Regarding the uidNumber issue, I noticed that if you add the machine to the domain through windows XP -add machine to domain, prompted user/pass- the uidNumber is used correctly by samba and it does not reuse it even if the entry in sambaDomainName contains an already used number.
I would need more info like describing very accurately the steps you follow to try reproduce the problem.

Hi,
I'll try to reproduce your issue during tomorrow and I'll get back to you as soon as I figure out what's happening.
You'll have an answer tomorrow

I've just taken a look at it and it looks very nice.
Let's see if I can have some time to play with it and I'll get back to you with some feedback about its use with eBox.
Thanks!

Hi,
We are currently working on the Ubuntu packages, we plan to release a testing version very soon.
I'll let you all know when it's done and I'll post all the information and URLs to install them.

You can choose between configuration backup or full backup. The latter will backup the shared files under /home/samba too.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: ASK: how to use proxy
« on: December 27, 2007, 02:34:52 pm »
Ok, it seems it's not a DNS problem then.
What's your global policy in proxy settings? Select 'always accept' and make sure you don't have any object with filter policy, save changes and try again

Ok then, let's use the diagnosis tool
Go to Network->diagnosis and try to look up a domain, and ping it.

make sure you have configured a DNS server for eBox itself.
Go to Network->DNS to check if you have any. If you have enabled the eBox DNS server you can introduce 127.0.0.1 or any other external DNS server.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Can EBOX work in webproxy/content filtering only?
« on: December 21, 2007, 04:50:46 pm »
Now there's no way to make eBox work on bridge mode, so if you want to keep your router working as firewall-dhcp-dns you could use eBox as a proxy/content filter but not in transparent mode.

Hi baboo,
It would be really cool if you can help us check grammar and English. Currently we don't have any English native speaker in our team, so that effort is highly appreciated.
As for submitting changes, you can either use this forum, our mailing list, or send patches. Whatever you feel more comfortable with.
Thanks a lot

Installation and Upgrades / Re: How to install webmail on ebox ?
« on: December 21, 2007, 02:09:41 pm »
Hi there,
I've just written a quick document[0] to install a webmail on your eBox machine.
Any suggestions, improvements or rewrites with screenshots are very welcomed.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: backup and multiple installs
« on: December 21, 2007, 11:28:28 am »
Hi there,
I would suggest you set up a configuration base and backup it.
Use our custom installer and once eBox is up and running just upload and restore the backup.
You could try external software like http://systemimager.org to speed up the process.
