Installation and Upgrades / Logs shows backup failed
« on: March 03, 2010, 04:37:56 am »
Hi,

I setup ebox-ebackup to perform file system backup with a destination of /mnt/backup mounted on a separate disk.

Here's the details:

Method: File System
Host or destination: /mnt/backup
Encryption: Disabled
Full backup freq: Weekly
Number of full copies: 2
Inc backup: Daily

I'm using eBox-1.4.

How can I see exactly the details of the log when in the Query Log interface doesn't allow you to view the logs itself?

Installation and Upgrades / Can't receive incoming mails
« on: February 26, 2010, 08:07:14 am »
Hi,

I'm trying to learn configuring Mail services on eBox-1.4. Now, I can send mails successfully but still unable to collect mails using Roundcube Webmail using imap settings.

I followed the howto: http://doc.ebox-platform.com/en/mail.html

I configured mail retrieval from external accounts on one of my user accounts but don't see any mails coming in.

I have google apps running and would like to collect mail using pop3s on port 995. I also configured the mail retrieval settings to imap on port 993. However, both attempts did not give the desired results; no mails coming in. :(

Inside Roundcube Webmail, download email icon says:
"No messages found in mailbox"

Don't see anything valuable in the logs regarding incoming mails.

Can anyone you point me to the right direction please?

Thanks in advance

Installation and Upgrades / Samba File Share shows 500MB size - DEFECT
« on: February 07, 2010, 04:06:27 pm »
Hi,

I setup a eBox-1.4 stable with roaming profiles and 500mb quota enabled.

I noticed some of my share have 500mb enabled whenever permissions are set to Read and Read and Write for other groups. I have different permission set on a share for each group.

But whenever, I set all permission to Administrator, the 500mb share size disappear and shows the proper partition size of the disk. I suppose this is a bug or a samba share defect.

Hi All,

I would like you to test Pandion as a Jabber Client on eBox. It's easy to use and a very good replacement to Pidgin and Psi.

There are very minimal configuration required. You only need to login your eBox login account for Jabber and that's all you have to do.

Plus, there are lots of cool emoticons with are not present with Pidgin and Psi. :D

HTH,
James

Hi,

I manually transfer our files to a new server due to server problems. However tranferring the files resulted to permission errors as follows:
Quote
Need permission to perform this action.

Your require permission from unix user\root to make changes to this folder

I already changed the permission using the following however I cannot execute some files:

chown -R ebox.__USERS__ /home/samba/shares/public
chown -R root.__USERS__ /home/samba/shares/public/*
chmod -R 777 /home/samba/shares/public/*

but it didn't help. I cannot extract archives and open exe files.

root@dcserver:/home/samba/shares# chown -R root.administrator install/APPS/*
root@dcserver:/home/samba/shares# ls -ltr install/APPS/

Installation and Upgrades / No Antivirus Tab on File Sharing
« on: January 08, 2010, 11:58:08 pm »
Hi,

I install ebox-1.2.6 on my Ubuntu Hardy 64bit machine. I noticed the Antivirus Tab is missing in the File Sharing section. This was not the case on my 32bit installation of ebox. How come??

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm installing Ebox-1.2 and got this error after clicking File Sharing menu.

An internal error related to a template has occurred. This is a bug, relevant information can be found in the logs.

I cannot find anything in the logs though. And I always get this error when updating

For Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy)

Add to your /etc/apt/sources.list:

    deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ebox/1.2/ubuntu hardy main

In order to authenticate the packages in the PPA you can import its public key with the following command:

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 342D17AC

Hi,

I made a mistake twice configuring Port Redirect. At first I thought it was something else, but on the second time I'm sure it was Port redirect rules.

I was trying to configure port forwarding so I can access http inside my network and forward HTTP traffic to my machine inside my LAN. After I commit and save the changes It hanged. When I restarted the computer, network cannot start and other related services.

I tried to delete the chain fredirects manually, now I can start the network and ping the Ebox server but still unable to login via web management.

I'm stuck. Please do this with caution as I have experienced this twice.

I'm running Ebox-1.2 as gateway with WAN Failover.

Installation and Upgrades / Port Forwarding
« on: July 14, 2009, 12:03:02 pm »
I created a port forwarding filter rule for HTTP Service on port 80. But can't seem to access it from external network. Source and destination ports are the same.

I made the rules to Filtering rules from external networks to internal networks. I'm running Ebox-1.2 as gateway.

Kindly see attached image.

This happened when I configured two gateways. When one of the gateway 'external' box is unchecked this prompt the screen.

I fixed it by checking the other external box.
