Hi,

You can find it in:
/usr/share/zentyal/stubs/samba

I have had the same problem.
I fixed it by restarting Filesharing module in GUI. For some reason the home directory isn't added to the users credentials. I have the same problem with roaming profiles. With every new user created I have to restart the Filesharing module.

I have read about chmod 755 for the user's public_html directory, but I'm concerned that fix may break something else Samba related.
I have this change for a couple of weeks now and nothing strange happens to the working of Samba. Still works great.

Peter

@Sam
I made the customization in the newly created template in /etc/zentyal/stubs/samba/smb.conf.mas according to your link.
It works great. Thank you.

Hi Antonio,

Have you tried changing:
/etc/ldap/slapd.d/cn=config/olcDatabase={-1}frontend.ldif

change olcSizeLimit: 500 to 50000

Best regards
Peter

jase,

It works fine now. The only issue I have is when adding a new user I have to restart the Filesharing module to enable roaming profiles for this new user. But that's not a major problem, I can live with it.

Best regards
Peter.

Got it finally working. What I did was reinstall everything in expert-mode. When asking for the systemname go back and select manually install networking. Enter your IP, gateway and DNS server. After that enter your systemname (e.g. zentyal) and then your domainname (e.g. mydomain.lan). then proceed as normal, selecting all the modules you want. In the initial setup enter the domainname exactly as you did before. That's it. Now I can join Win7 and WinXP.

My problem was that zentyal did not change the initial domainname (zentyal-domain.lan) to my domainname, so in Samba REALM was still set to zentyal-domain.lan and WORKGROUP to mydomain.
For me this works.

Hope this will help a bit.

Regards Peter.

Same problem here. Did a fresh install today and I can't join the domain with Windows7 or Windows XP clients.
Hopefully there is a solution very soon.

Christian,

I admire your patience. Reading all post I wondered if it is really that hard to do. So I set it up as in your tutorial.
I used the DNS method adding an alias wpad. I also added a virtual host wpad.mydomain.lan
Copied your example of wpad.dat to /srv/www/wpad.mydomain.lan
Set up some filtering rules just to test.
Made a change in IE9 en Firefox and guess what.
All works just fine.
I took me about 10 minutes to do.
Great job!

Update:
You have to change:
/usr/share/zentyal/stubs/samba/smb.conf.mas
everytime a new File sharing module is installed.

Plus: If you are using Zentyal Firewall set LDAP connection to ACCEPT in "Filtering rules from internal networks to Zentyal"
Default is "DENY"

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Setting home directory mask to 755
« on: November 03, 2012, 06:39:53 pm »
Hi all,

I solved it.
I changed in /etc/zentyal/users.conf  DIR_UMASK to 22, then I changed in /usr/share/zentyal/stubs/samba/smb.conf.mas in section [homes] directory mask to 755.
All works fine now. When I create a user the mask is set correctly to 755 and when this user creates a directory the mask is also set to 755.

Hi Marios,

That's no problem. It is the way I do it now. But what I need is whenever I create a user the mask is automatic set to 755.
With 10 users or less thats no problem by hand, but I have 500+.

Any ideas.

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED] Setting home directory mask to 755
« on: November 01, 2012, 07:51:11 pm »
Hi all,

Is there a way to set the home directory mask to standard 755, not to 700.
I have problems accessing users webpages in public_html.
Setting it manualy is very time consuming with many users.
I have tried it in smb.conf and in adduser script, but nothing works

Any ideas?

Peter

Yes, works great.
I was struggling for weeks with this problem thinking it was Zentyal.
I'm happy now to finally setup my server.
