Installation and Upgrades / Re: [HOWTO] Mailman

You can also use hooks to modify Zentyal files, hooks are not overrided or deleted on upgrades :)

Many thanks for your howto! I've added "Mailing lists" to the new modules wishlist referencing it.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: netlogon and mapped network drives
« on: April 18, 2011, 12:34:09 pm »
Hi Jeff,

This is the way Zentyal currently works when saving file sharing module changes:
  • Our 'zentyal-logon.bat' file is created
  • If a file called 'logon.bat' exists, this one is used
  • If it doesn't exist, 'zentyal-logon.bat' is used

So if you want to add custom behaviour, you can put a 'logon.bat' file, or copy the zentyal-logon.bat to logon.bat and do the needed changes. As with other Zentyal modules you can also use hooks to override the default behaviour.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Evolution Zarafa config
« on: April 18, 2011, 12:22:10 pm »

For mail you can enable IMAP or POP3 gateways in groupware configuration and use evolution with any of these protocols.
For other features you can also use standard protocols, e.g. check the chapter for calendar clients in Zarafa documentation.

I have added it to network wishlist referencing your use case.

Thanks for the suggestion, and sorry for the inconveniences.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Running User Profile report

To make use of these reports you need a comercial subscription and to register your server in Zentyal Cloud. Take a look on the Zentyal online store or contact sales if you have any doubt.

« on: April 14, 2011, 11:36:48 am »

sudo /usr/share/ebox/ebox-restore-backup --module firewall <backup.tar>

Zentyal doesn't support the copy of partial configuration between different hosts, but there are a couple of options that you can try.

The first one is to create a configuration backup in the first server and restore only the objects module in the other one, this option will remove any object you may have in the destination server, and needs all the packages installed in the source server to be also installed in the destination server,  for this method:
  • Create a configuration backup in the original server
  • Download the configuration backup and copy it to the destination server
  • In the destination server, run "sudo /usr/share/ebox/ebox-restore-backup --module objects <backup.tar>"
  • Save changes

The other option is riskier, it implies to modify the redis database by hand, what doesn't guarantee to preserve the integrity at all:
  • Backup your destination server configuration
  • Run in the source server "sudo /usr/share/ebox/zentyal-redisvi"
  • You'll see an editable dump of your Zentyal configuration database, search "objectTable" and copy all the fields whose key starts with "/ebox/module/objects/objectTable", close without save
  • Run "sudo /usr/share/ebox/zentyal-redisvi" in the destination server
  • Paste the objects copied from the source server
  • If you already had some objects in the destination server, pay special attention to the /ebox/module/objects/objectTable/order, that, at the end has to contain all the objects.
  • Pay also attention to avoid duplicated keys
  • Good luck :)
  • Save and go to save changes
  • If something fails, restore the backup you have done

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Repositorio Local

« on: April 07, 2011, 09:10:27 am »

Here you have a working scenario:

We have found some cases in which port redirection is actually not working, maybe that's your case, I'll keep you updated.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Errors from cron and NTP
« on: February 10, 2011, 08:53:21 pm »

About the other errors, I cannot reproduce them, what versions of ebox and ebox-mailfilter do you have?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Errors from cron and NTP

It seems that apparmor doesn't like ntpd running as root, we have changed this behaviour and now it seems that the ntp error is not happening anymore.

You can see the changes here:
