Directory and Authentication / How to enable SMBv1 on Zentyal 5 ?
« on: November 10, 2017, 12:06:05 pm »
Quick question as my scanner doesn't support SMBv2-SMBv3

Thank you

solved using the following command in command line:

resize2fs -p /dev/sda1

The great thing is that made all online (no need to unmount). Actually I was copying files on the drive.

I setup a network drive on windows share and expected it would find the right size the disk and partition is: 7.1 TB, but it shows 2 TB.
This is an iScsi connection between Zentyal and a NAS. Under Zentyal the drive is perfectly mounted and fdisk -l shows the following:

Disk /dev/mapper/zentyal--vg-root: 27.4 GiB, 29418848256 bytes, 57458688 sectors
Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

Just to answer for future users wondering: I found out that Zentyal doesn't support nfs re-sharing. The solution in this case was to initialize an Iscsi connection.

6
I receive the above error when trying to configure a share using a directory taken from a NFS mount.
The NFS mount is needed because that folder is a QNAP NAS and I will use separately my zentyal server in a virtual environment (this is the de-facto standard for domain servers).

How to solve? The NFS hasn't got the option acl (nor xattr) but it obviously supports it. It's Zentyal that doesn't recognize them as you don't specify them in the fstab (I suspect).

Thank you in advance.

Directory and Authentication / File sharing permission (file system path)
« on: December 14, 2015, 03:28:05 pm »
I set up the Zentyal on a "small" hdd (80GB) and due to future backup and recovery needs I decided to add a 2TB hard disk, mount it on a folder (/mnt/files) then share under this path (configuring "file system path") my shares.
It all seems to work, apart I can't access that shares from windows, the Zentyal samba permission, although I put it through zentyal interface, are not enough.
If I use "directory under zentyal" it all seems to work.
I'm wondering which are the chmod permissions I have to set on the hdd folders to be accessed by samba/windows as I can't find this info nowhere.
At the moment the owner is administrator and the group is adm and both have got rwx permissions.

Thank you.

I have a backup of the old zentyal but since it was 3.4 and this is 4.1 it can't be read, moreover, it had 2 network cards configured, while this new one just 1, so I think that there would be some problem in taking that backup.

Hallo,
I use the Zentyal since about 1 year and am very satisfied with it.
After a blackout the previous machine broken so I backed up the data and now have to rebuild a server.
Probably there were better solutions, but I was in a urge and didn't thought to them so now I have all the machines pointing to the old domain controller, and a brand new Zentyal server. I would like to let the Zentyal recognize the old users so that the old users don't have to touch their client configuration and to create new users on Windows 7.
Is it possible?
Have I just to specify the same realm and netbios?

The problem is still not solved, today again I received this message:

Quote
Some modules reported error when saving changes . More information on the logs in /var/log/zentyal/

The following modules failed while saving their changes, their state is unknown: samba The following modules failed while saving their changes, their state is unknown: samba at The following modules failed while saving their changes, their state is unknown: samba at /usr/share/perl5/EBox/GlobalImpl.pm line 735 EBox::GlobalImpl::saveAllModules('EBox::GlobalImpl=HASH(0x33e6130)', 'progress', 'EBox::ProgressIndicator=HASH(0xe07728)') called at /usr/share/perl5/EBox/Global.pm line 95 EBox::Global::AUTOLOAD('EBox::Global=HASH(0x340e0c0)', 'progress', 'EBox::ProgressIndicator=HASH(0xe07728)') called at /usr/share/zentyal/global-action line 32 eval {...} at /usr/share/zentyal/global-action line 30

I'm supposing that the problem is due to the fact that people are saving in the share, or today I changed some ACL (

Awesome, in the meanwhile I wrote, after 10 minutes (50% saving) it actually saved Samba!
Sorry... So at 3.9 it seems stable.

I run Zentyal 3.5 and as I say in the subject I have a problem saving Samba.
I already upgraded (and thanks god they remained up and running. I was dying waiting for them to run, this is the domain controller of the firm) the printer module (3.4) and the user file sharing module (3.9), but still receive this error.

Please tell me what kind of troubleshooting should I do, I already checked the zentyal.log, but I didn't find anything useful, it gives just info about users activity.

Please can you tell me what to check and how to troubleshoot this issue? I need to add a share, moreover I use this server as domain controller and can't allow samba configuration inability to save.

Installation and Upgrades / User's corner non existant
« on: July 19, 2014, 03:50:17 pm »
Good morning;
I'd like to let the users to change their password, but on Zentyal 3.5 I cannot find the User's Corner option anywhere, neither the module to install.
Please help!

Ok, now I have a working 3.5 zentyal setup.
Well it was installed on a 40GB hdd, I also have a raid 2 TB hdd currentyl resyncing (20% completed)
The problem is that /home/samba is in the former, while I want to create the fileserver on the latter.
It's indifferent where is the /home/samba but I want to have my shares on the other 2TB software-raid HDD.
If I check Zentyal web GUI, it finds under "RAID" menu the raid configuration, but under "Disk Usage" there's only the 40GB sda configuration.
What should I do?
Please...
