Hi Daniel,

Hi guys,

There is an open issue in Github related to this DNS resolution issue, you can check it out here:

* https://github.com/zentyal/zentyal/issues/2026

The following commands do not work for me (even after rebooting the system):
Code: [Select]
sudo rm -v /var/cache/bind/managed-keys.bind*
sudo zs dns restart

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you set that configuration parameter in the stub located at '/usr/share/zentyal/stubs/dns' and you lost it after restarting the DNS module, it is because you have another stub located at '/etc/zentyal/stubs/dns', and this directory has more priority than the other.

/stubs/dns  - these directories do not exist in my installation:

Code: [Select]
# cd /etc/zentyal/
# dir
core.conf  firewall.conf  logs.conf     post-save  pre-save
dns.conf   hooks          network.conf  ppa.gpg    zentyal.conf
#

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Moreover, in Dashboard, at Core version, is written 7.0.3 (available).

(available) disappeared. By the system itself, i think. ;D

---------------------------------------------------------------------

For now, I will stay with your solution.

Kind regards,
Gabriel

Hi Daniel,

Solved but not quite solved.
After I made some updates that appeared after I modified the file as you said, after restarted the system, the file was re-written without the modification and I was forced to insert the parameter again.

Will be an update to fix this issue?

Moreover, in Dashboard, at Core version, is written 7.0.3 (available).
If I check from Software Management, the messages said that no updates are available.
If I check from CLI, same messages.

Code: [Select]

Hi everyone!

Fresh installation of Zentyal 7.0 for using as Authoritative DNS Server, so only few modules installed: Network, Firewall, DNS, Logs.

After first configuration and first reboot, as many of you, I did not able to do updates, even if the available updates were shown in Dashboard / Software Management.

Following @mscfw hint https://forum.zentyal.org/index.php/topic,35174.msg114308.html#msg114308, I did the updates (Core to 7.0.3 and other Zentyal software).

After reboot, same issue: Temporary failure in name resolution

Does anybody know how to fix this, or we must to wait an update from Zentyal?

I have the same configuration with Zentyal 6.2 and it works like a charm.

Kind regards,
Gabriel

3 out of 4 of my Zentyal 4 servers I am running right now work flawlessly as PDC with mail and groupware.
One thing that you ned to do after getting everything all up and running is open a terminal and install Sogo ActiveSync:
sudo apt-get install sogo-activesync

Then go into your Zentyal Admin Panel and navigate to Mail > Openchange and check the ActiveSync box.  After that is all done then your Android, IOS and Windows Phone devices will all work flawlessly too!
No clue on why that package isn't just installed automatically though.

Especially after remaining just Sogo ActiveSync! ;)

It is good to hear of a positive experience.  It seem as if the mail side is robust from your experience. The sogo, samba and openchange bits are the areas where I seem to hit most trouble.
Jodel

Hi Jodel,

Indeed, I have a positive experience with Zentyal as e-mail server.

Next, I will try to replace my PDC/AD/File Server/Print Server on Windows 2k8 Std with Zentyal or NethServer.
My first option is Zentyal because of Samba4.
I'm not sure yet in what configuration (PDC/AD/File Server;  PDC/AD with FreeNas as File Server;  PDC/AD with Openmediavault as File Server).
I'm sure I cannot use it as Print Server. I have Canon Color MF with network scanner and I have no drivers to use them at full capacities.

Hi guys,

I use Zentyal community/development edition (now 4.2.1.3) from about 2 years, till now only as E-mail server, in the following configuration:
- placed in DMZ (Endian 3.05 beta1 community edition).
- all filters (SMTP Proxy, POP3 Proxy, Black and Whitelists, Spam Filters, Virus Scanner) are made by Endian.
- no AD integration.
- external NS.
- multi domains: 7 different domains with approximative 100 mailboxes.
- because of multi domains, Callendar Sharing and Contacts Sharing are disabled.
- works without issues on: Blackberry, Windows Phone, iPhone, Android (IMAP, POP3, Exchange).
- works without issues on desktops: Outlook 2010, 2013, Thunderbird (IMAP, POP3, Exchange).

Notes:
- After the upgrade to 4.2, I didn't have issues with Openchange.
- Restat the server only when updates/upgrades ask.
- A few minor issues during some updates, solved after a few CLI commands.
- I have tested a few months ago, for a very short time, Calendar Sharing and it works well from Sogo to Thunderbird, if i remember well. I don't remember if worked from Thunderbird to Sogo or from Sogo to Outlook and vice versa.

In the next couple of months, I will try to setup Zentyal as E-mail Server on a separate machine, only for my company, to use Callendar Sharing and Contacts Sharing (placed in DMZ, all filters on Endian, no AD integration).

I am talking to Z 4.0 . I need backup/restore files that Z 4.2 don't have and Z 4.0 have. Do you have any download link of Z 4.0?

I know, but I don't think win 10, win 8 will work.

Is Z 4.0 can support windows 10 active directory and domain directory? Because Z 2.0 can only support windows XP that's why i want to upgrade my server.

And can you give the download link of Z 4.0?

I really don't know. I use Z 4.2 as Multidomain Email Server in DMZ (with Endian as UTM).

But according to this: https://wiki.zentyal.org/wiki/Zentyal_4.2_Announcement, it works.

Download link for 4.2: http://www.zentyal.org/server/

Hi RAAC,

You are right, there is no more options to configure how local backup to be made but there is still option to backup your system.
Beginning with Z 4.0, they drastically reduced the functionality of the Zentyal.  :(

There are many other distros that have extended options for backup configuration (NethServer - AiO Server; Endian - UTM; ...). You can try if you want to be "up to date" (Z 2.0 is stable but to old and you are not satisfied with Z 4.2).  ;)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  :)

Gabriel,

I looked again and did see the change to the address book & calendar lists. So it did work.

The behavior that I see is searching or sharing either from the webmail interface, you see the search results for all users regardless of the virtual domain when you are selecting the user to grant access or in searching for another user's address book/calendar. You still need to grant access to be able to open from another user.  Is there a way to list only the users in the virtual domain here?

Hi Scott,

AFAIK, there is no way to list only the users to belong to only one virtual domain (for Zentyal Server and/or Zentyal Server Development Edition), when you have multiple virtual domains. You can only have "everything or nothing". That is by design. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think so.

As I said, maybe is possible but with a lot of changes, made by somebody who is really good.

If you want a free email server (but only email server) for complete separate domains, you can try iRedMail (Linux) or AXIGEN (Windows/Linux; the free version has some limitations: 100 email accounts distribuite for n domains, ...). Maybe there are more free email servers but I don't know.

BR,
Gabriel

Thanks Gabriel, I made the changes, however in webmail the user still gets all of the users in the search box.

Hi Scott! You're welcome!

I just verify in my email account on webmail and I don't get users from other email virtual domains that I have on the server.

After this modifications in "sogo.conf.mas", in email account user interface you must have:
1. in Address Book: only "Personal Address Book" and "Collected Address Book".
2. in Calendar: only "Personal Calendar"

If you don't have only those from above, I think you must restart the server. It should work.

I've also made the changes in the stubs for sogo and ocsmanager, but CN=users is still showing on the GUI and I can't enable openchange for non default users group users.

I haven't made yet the changes recommended by seteq to enable openchange for non default users group users.
Theoretically should work. I have read docs from Sogo site. Sogo is capable to manage separate domains but here, on Zentyal, I think must be related modifications on Sogo, Openchange and maybe on Samba and Apache. I really don't know, just guess.

I'm running 4.2 that I downloaded and installed about a week ago, were there changes to prevent these items in this release?

I'm also running 4.2 (upgrade from 4.1).

The default location for "sogo.conf.mas" is: /usr/share/zentyal/stubs/openchange/sogo.conf.mas

The custom stub will be here: /etc/zentyal/stubs/openchange/sogo.conf.mas

How is the paid ISP version configured? I would expect it to work this way.

If you refer to Zentyal Cloud version, is made for separate domains and should be work in this way.

Zentyal Cloud -> Technical Features -> Multitenant: Complete isolation of client companies ...

Is this the solution to preventing virtual domains from seeing other virtual domain calendars? Right now (in webmail at least) when subscribe to calendars are searched, the users from other VD's are shown in the list.

Hi Scott,

Please read here: https://forum.zentyal.org/index.php/topic,24036.msg99630.html#msg99630 to make the modifications permanent, thanks to jbahillo.
