Installation and Upgrades / Re: Outook auto refresh not working
« on: October 15, 2015, 02:54:48 pm »
2 Issues:

1. On Development Edition - in Send & Receive Groups - set the Schedule a Send and Receive to something short - 3 or 5 mins - this is not perfect, but it does work.  On Business Edition this is also a good idea as the notification functionality is on one day, off the next whilst dev try to get it resolved.
2. There is an ongoing issue with OpenChange syncing - I have done a quick workaround for a live production site and this works - again it is not very satisfactory but will help until dev have it sorted.  Works for Business and Development versions ...

2
If you clear the offline cache and the mail syncs then yes that is the issue.  We have had to revert to IMAP until the issue is resolved - we were given an estimate of 6 to 8 weeks, however we have been waiting since October 29th 2014 for this, so we are only hopeful at this stage.

3
I meant Zentyal updates - I have 2 working systems (only test so little traffic) at the moment which are updating correctly (based on notification not timer) and one commercial production system that is updating but Outlook is still struggling with OpenChange.  If everything else is working, and Zentyal is up to date then I don't know beyond we are told that OpenChange is being worked on and will be sorted out over the coming weeks, but IMAP is solid and reliable in the mean time.

In theory notification is now live so if all updates are in place mail should appear within 10 seconds, however you can try a few things:

1. Go to Send/Receive Groups and set online connection at 5 minutes and make sure that your OpenChange connection is included in the group. (of course this shouldn't be necessary but if it works then it suggests you do not have all updates).
2. Right-click on Inbox, then select Properties, then the Synchronisation tab - if there is a mismatch between Offline and Server mail numbers you should Clear Offline Cache and re-sync.

If this works and you want to know why (because it will happen again!) please let me know and I will explain...

We used exmerge: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=2743 to extract users mail from Exchange as PST files.  We imported the PST files (actually just the first user) which was a disaster and crashed OpenChange - that was 6 months ago - we have had many attempts to resolve this issue, but again failed yesterday with one file with approximately 6,000 emails in it.  I do not believe that there is a tool to migrate automatically, however you might be able to use a 3rd Party migration tool like MDMigrator which will extract from Exchange and put into a folder and file-based structure which may be compatible with dovecot with some manipulation: http://static.altn.com/Collateral/How-To-Quick-Start-Guide/A4_MDaemon-Mail-Server_Exchange-Migration_How-To-Quick-Start-Guide.pdf

When you say "old time users" - we have a Commercial Licence bought in December - we bought it because of OpenChange, Mail Filtering etc.  We have not been able to use OpenChange since the disastrous migration, but have been waiting patiently for OpenChange to be usable - we understand that April 2nd is the day.  Now that the core functionality is being removed the recommendation is given not to "upgrade" to Version 4.1 - will this mean that the OpenChange issues will not be resolved.

We bought a Commercial Licence to give us some security, but so far we do not have a usable product, and now it seems that the development we signed up for is being scrapped.

I really hope I have misunderstood - I know the company we bought from are asking the same questions, but with only 2 days to go before we try to migrate again, I would like to know 100%

We are still waiting for a recommended backup solution now that that has also gone - again the worry is that this was to be posted in January.

thanks ...

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Problems with Outlook Connections
« on: December 30, 2014, 11:38:22 pm »
I  guess you know the issue that OpenChange does not yet update the folders automatically so you have to use SHIFT+F9 to Update All Folders - we are desperately waiting for this embarrassment to be resolved (our clients cannot believe it ...) - if you have done this and it is not resolved, try removing the OST file and sync again - if there was a pre-existing OST file Outlook may fail to access the file and therefore cannot populate it.
