Other modules / Re: Zentyal DNS

Do the clients where the ping (hostname) is working have somethin in common / or do the other clients have something in common?
does the fileserver resolve via fqdn?
if it resolves via fqdn, look after the search-domain ;-)

I think it would be a lot easier if you setup Zentyal as DHCP, that way, you can easyly check why dns updates (...) are not working...

German / Re: Gateway im selben Netzwerk?
« on: December 06, 2018, 10:48:20 am »
welche IP hast du deiner Z Kiste denn gegeben?
Router: 192.168.2.1 => die eth0 der ZBox muss in diesem Netz sein, aber nicht ...1
Auf der anderen Seite ( "Heim Netz") spannst du ein eigenes Subnetz auf (z.B. 192.168.3.x)
=> die eth1 deiner ZBox bekommt dann ( in o.g. Beispiel) 192.168.3.1
Damit hast du dann zwei getrennte Netze.
Option a) WAN (Router) ------ ZentyalBox --------HeimNetz

... you can only add more DCs as aditional ones...
You wrote, you have 3 Zentyal boxes as DCs (?), so normally, the users (passwords,...) are still there.
But do not use "main DC" unless you really want to recreate the domain

Hi, I think there is no "Zentyal way" to promote a Server to the primary...
You could assign the FSMO roles to another server :-)
The sad thing is, there is (as far as I know) no sync of the SYSVOL folder...

Sorry, I run my Nextcloud on a different "Server" (Openmediavault), so I am not 100% sure how to config under Zentyal...
If I remember right, I have tested 2 or 3 Docker images until it worked well...
I can check tomorrow which Image I used (atm no access to the Config of my OMV)...

ubuntu-minimal Updated "kills" the system :-(
Hi, after upgrading to 6.0, I see the package "ubuntu-minimal" has an update...
When installing this, it kills my Server (all Zentyal modules seem to vanish)...
Be careful what you install, and as always: Backup or Snapshot your server!!!

Thomas

looks like you are upgrading to 5.1...?
I remember there was "a hack" with the AppArmor rules to get this away, but I cannot remember which "switches" are the correct ones :-(
When the first Upgrade to z6.0 is done, I can try to check on another server of mine...

Hi Brian,
If I remember right, the setting could be made "reboot-proof" by adding it to the samba.mas of zentyal.
Sorry, I do not have shell access to my Z-Box atm, so I could not look up the path...
Try a little google / forum search on configuring zentyal .mas ;-)

Hi,
do you use the Zentyal-box as DHCP server?
If yes, there is an option within DHCP Server settings for the Gateway.
If no, then you have to set this on your DHCP Server...
