see in your ebox.log what ldap is doing, sometimes it complains about an user or group name too long, special characters etc, try to sync again...
give more details, are you trying to synchronize a tree, an entire forest (hate the ms slang), maybe forcing the directives with "gpupdate /force" then trying to synchronize again, anyway give us more details

Installation and Upgrades / Cannot access shares in windows clients
« on: August 03, 2010, 12:08:29 am »
Ok, I give up,
After creating a share in ebox I just cannot access them in my windows xp client machines, windows keep asking me for an authentication (?), I tried normal and administrative users from local machines, ebox machine, active directory server machines in their respective domains, also  I tried and searched everywhere for a solution for days and nights without any success, (if anybody knows where is such solution I'll apreciate). In my experience this kind of problem is always a stupid thing.

Well, here is my configurations and logs
version: EBox 1.4.2 Ubuntu 8.04 (latest stable iso)
Services running: Network, Apache, Logs, Printer Sharing, File Sharing, Users and Groups.
Network interfaces: method static, 10.0.1.237, no virtual interfaces. DNS:10.0.1.6 search domain: domain.gov.br
gateways: 10.0.1.1 default
internal services: eBox administration, ipp, ldap, samba, usercorner
Installed components: Monitor, VPN Service, Control Center Client, Certification Authority, Network Configuration, Base Framework, Common Library, Software Management, Users and Groups, File Sharing, Network ObjectsPrinter Sharing, Network Services, Firewall

Password:    nhjnIETpH8j4RLzH
Users DN:    ou=Users,dc=ebox,dc=domain,dc=gov,dc=br
Groups DN:    ou=Groups,dc=ebox,dc=domain,dc=gov,dc=br
windows ad sync settings:AD user: eboxadsync (just like in the Users Ou in the ad)
AD password: **** (same in the eboxadsync in the ad)
Listen port: 6677 (no firewall rules between 10.0.1.237 and 10.0.1.6 - the ad and dns server-, setted first time in users and groups -> mode)
AD Secret Key: some 16 char lenght key that matches the ebox ad sync tool configured in 10.0.1.6
File Sharing: general settings->enable pdc: disabled, domain name: EMP, netbios name: ebox, description: ebox, samba group: all users
Shares-> name: test, enabled: true, share path (directory under ebox): test, access control -> group: users, permissions: read and write

The "fresh" logs:
error.log http://paste.ubuntu.com/472380/
access.log http://paste.ubuntu.com/472384/
ebox.log http://paste.ubuntu.com/472385/
