Installation and Upgrades / Re: Cannot reactivate Antispam filter

I have seen it do this right after I first installed version 4.0.1. I had to manually update the ClamAV signatures.
From a shell: sudo freshclam

If you want to access the webmail feature, you need to also forward port 443 (HTTPS).

This is a known issue with the current version of OpenChange. It simply does not work.
You can set Outlook to go get new email every minute by clicking on the Send and Receive tab, Send and Receive groups, Define Send and Receive groups, and setting a shorter time in the Schedule Send and Receive setting.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Is Zentyal ready for production?
« on: February 24, 2015, 07:14:46 pm »
I recently setup Zentyal 4.0 as a email server for 40 people. It is stable, the anti spam and virus features work great, and it has a small memory footprint.
I would recommend testing this in a virtual machine first to get familiar with the software.
I am using self signed certs, but I only have 4 devices outside my Windows domain. There are ways to add reputable certs though.
The Exchange functions simply do not work. No automatic email retrieval, folders randomly refuse to synchronize, etc.
It works great as an IMAP server, and the SOGo webmail is adequate.

The feature you are looking for is called Fetchmail.
https://wiki.zentyal.org/wiki/En/4.0/Electronic_Mail_Service_%28SMTP_POP3-IMAP4%29#Retrieve_mail_from_external_accounts_with_Fetchmail

On your Mail>General tab, check "Retrieve mail for external accounts".
Then under Users and Computers>Manage, click on each user account you want to retrieve mail for and click on Mail account settings. Enter their account info under "External account".

Do you have the necessary ports open on your firewall/router?
Are your public DNS settings set correctly?

Are you using any SSL/TLS encryption on Zentyal? I use TLS on Outlook and STARTTLS on Thunderbird.
In the Outlook account settings, click More Settings, Advanced tab.

As far as I know, for local addresses it checks for a user account in Users and Computers.
For all outside email addresses, it should just send the email and let the receiving server figure it out.
Did you make any changes recently to your mail domain? (or virtual mail domain?)

Thank you! This looks promising!
Does it still work after a reboot?

Installation and Upgrades / Anti-Virus Logging
« on: February 09, 2015, 05:15:03 pm »
When I send the EICAR test virus attached to an email to test the anti-virus filtering, Zentyal correctly blocks the email, and emails the administrator an alert.
However, when I search the logs, the only record I see of this happening is in the mail log, and it says the Status is "Sent", Event is "Successful messages", and only in the Additional Info does it say message discarded.
There is no record in the SMTP filter logs under "Virus Found" and there is no way to search for this event.
Is this a bug or a feature? Is this something I have to configure manually?

Webmail is built in, using SOGo. Go to https://yourServerName/SOGo/
It seems to work well.
Definitely try it out in a virtual machine to learn all the features.
