hi were you able to verify the logs on the Zentyal server?
if the files are locked - i would presume that samba would write to a log to flag any problem.
could you time when this error ocours and have a look at samba log?
i do not resources to test this config with Win2008AD.

true to form.
i shutdown all instances that i was using and returned today - to find that everything works as expected.
Moral of the story.
if the documentation says something; then turn it off and then back on again. and have a cup of coffee while you are at it.

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED] trying to install Zentyal 3 PDC - only getting errors

hello
i have installed a plain ubuntu x64 then Zentyal as per documentation adding repositories and setting zentyal using Web-gui.
the fact is that i am using a very basic configuration for testing and even that is not working
my client system - Windows XP x64 can not join PDC.
in the client i am using the Domain to be the same as the Realm which is also the same as the DNS domain in Zentyal,
i have used this setup in the past fine but it is not working.
any suggestion?

i would like to find out if Zentyal could be used as a Authentication proxy.
so that password are maintained through AD but we could use these Apps with LDAP authentication.
is that possible?

i have used the VPN module without the Windows Controller - and it has worked great for transferring files.
3-4 GB files transfer with not corruption or drop in communication.

as a solution i have downloaded image of zentyal 2 and it seems to work as expected ?!
so i will wait until i have managed to install zentyal 3 in order to move forward.

slapd password were left blank
ensured that server domain is the same as the one on DNS module
entered a suffix to module 'users and groups'
saved
enabled module 'users and groups'
saved
all seems well
module Samba has its default setting inserted as:
NetBIOS domain name: LAB
Realm: lab.intra
where 'lab.intra' is also the domain listed in the DNS module
save changes (although i have not changed anything)
again, all seems good - checking on the log /var/log/zentyal/zentyal.log
finally, i try to enable module 'users and groups'
and these are the entries in the zentyal.log:
i am not sure if i am doing something wrong?
users do not have any option to be 'administrators' - which implies that changes to LDAP schema are not being executed.
but samba seems to be correctly defined.

I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 amd64 and then added Zentyal to it.
installation goes well with all modules
but when i try adding Domain Controller (File Sharing) capabilities it gives the following error:
any idea what should have gone wrong here?
searching the forum shows that there are a few entries similar to this - but no clear answer has been found (that i noticed).

just to add that (at least for me) there was no need for adding details on redmine for account and password (to connect).
