Installation and Upgrades / I can send but not receive mails
« on: August 16, 2008, 03:54:24 am »
Hello

I just installed ebox on one box 1.1.1.1 and squirrelmail on a debian machine 1.1.1.2.
I'm able to send mails to other domains(yahoo, msn, gmail ...) but i cannot receive emails from any of these domains. Mails sent to local users in ebox are delivered.

thanx for support

PS : ebox is not the gateway of my network and has only one network card.

smoothwall is a firewall and ebox is an SME Server (Firewall+FileServer+MailServer+...)

Installation and Upgrades / Re: internal mail server conguration
« on: December 20, 2007, 11:35:19 pm »

my ebox is only working as proxy server, and don't have any users created,
I wonder why you want to kill a bee using a tank !!!
the mail server is in the internal network and is sending emails, but when you try to send an email from the outside to my internal mail server this one is been rejected by the ebox, my proxy  server have two nic, one internal and other external with a public address
Since you have access to Internet, you are able to send mails, but they will be marked as spam by most mailservers like yahoo or hotmail.
i had try by making a rediretion of the smtp port, to the internal address of the mail server.
You may be missing something in the configuration of port redirection in ebox.

When I only need firewall I don't use ebox, because i found it degrading to use this faboulos solution that is ebox just for firewalling.

Since you are using Exchange on your network, this means you have Active Directory running. I suggest you use a dedicated distro like IPCop or Smoothwall for firewalling. Make sure the domain your register from Internet is pointing to your public address and check your port redirection. Next, you will be abble to authenticate users going to Internet from your firewall and this will require a less powerfull computer.

Good Luck !

sixstone :

Ebox is doing all i want except for webmail. Please just let me know how to integrate webmail. I don't want to use a seperate computer for mails and I want users to user the same account log into their workstation and check their mail from any browser on any computer of the network an even from the web.

If i can do that, my problem will be solved. Meaning, if i have a feature to request,  i'll like to see a webmail integrated in futures releases of ebox.

Baboo, thank u for spending your time reading me.

Here is the challenge (for me !!!), i have a network of 500 users right now and something like 50 computers. i need to setup pdc + file server + mail server. for the first 2 features ebox is the solution for me. There is a multimedia centre with 30 computers and most of the 500 users use to work there, the rest of computers are in offices. that is why i want to provide webmail access.

I found this http://www.howtoforge.com/virtual-users-and-domains-with-postfix-ubuntu-7.10 on the web on how to setup a mail server.

Do u have any suggestion for the best or optimal setup i can use to acheive this goal ?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Ebox installation in XEN
« on: December 19, 2007, 12:58:13 pm »
Hi there

I found it quite simple to have ebox running on VMWare Server than Xen.

I'm currently running VMWare Server 1.0.4 on Ubuntu Server 7 with
 - 1 VM machine running IPCop 1.4.13
 - 1 VM running ebox as PDC
 - 1 VM running Ubuntu Server 7 with ISPConfig

Maybe you should try it too !
