Hi FarquahrWindsor,
I just downloaded VMWARE-player and installed Zentyal 32bit. I selected ALL available modules.
And guess what. It just runs like a charme, included samba. No more errors while saving the modules.
I think there's something wrong with virtualbox.
So for me the problem is solved.

Very strange issue.
Installing both 32bit or 64bit on a physical disk, no problem with samba. But when I install in VBOX both 32bit or 64bit and up with error saying:
FATAL: Couldn't connect to samba LDAP server
I'am going to try VMWARE now.
Has anyone else this same problem.

Hi FarquahrWindsor,
No luck. I installed it twice. Ones with Zentyal iso and ones with Ubuntu iso. After bringing in each module I rebooted.
The same error both times.
So I just have to wait until it has been fixed.

Even with version 3.0.3 the same error.

Hi Ian,
I did a fresh install today with a new download and still can't get Samba to work. Samba modules won't save. Same message as before: FATAL: Couldn't connect to samba LDAP server.
How did you do it?
Version is 3.0.2

In the initial setup saving the modules I get the following error message:
Some modules reported error when saving changes. More information on the logs in /var/log/zentyal/
FATAL: Couldn't connect to samba LDAP server.
Anyone any suggestions? After this error the saving stops. I can't get samba to work.

Hi Zentyal users,
I've got it almost done. Complete Zentyal server. It has to replace my Ubuntu 10.04 server. But....
One problem I'm facing. I have a share (Department) mapped to drive N, beneath this share are some folders Dep1, Dep2....Dep50. Some users: user1....user70.
User1 to 20 have access wrights for Dep1,7,17,25. User 15,30,45 wrights for Dep 22,37,45,48, and so on. All users can see all folders but only access them with permission. In Ubuntu it's simple. Create share Department set permissions to administrator rwx and group department rx. Create groups dep1 to dep50 and set corresponding folders to groups rwx. Add users to different groups and it works fine.
But how in Zentyal. This Ubuntu approach doesn't work here. I'm struggling for weeks now. Can't get it to work.
Any suggestions and/or solutions I appreciate.

Ik heb Zentyal nu bijna compleet draaien. Hij moet een Ubuntu 10.04 server gaan vervangen. Deze draait toch al een hele tijd zonder problemen.
Ik zit nog met een probleem. Ik heb verschillende shares, bijv. Afdeling. Hieronder zitten weer een 50 tal sub-afdelingen. Ik krijg het maar niet voor elkaar om verschillende gebruikers "Lees/schrijf" rechten te geven op sommige sub-folders en op andere weer niet. In Ubuntu was dit zeer gemakkelijk. Groep aanmaken en koppelen aan sub-folder. In Zentyal werkt dit schijnbaar niet. Alle sub-folders krijgen de rechten van de hoofd-share.
Ter illustratie: share: Afdeling. Sub-folders: Afd1, Afd2, Afd3 ... Afd50. Gebruikers: user1, user2, user3...user20.
