Installation and Upgrades / Move Hard drive from HP to DELL computer
« on: August 18, 2022, 08:02:52 pm »
I am already guessing the answer here; however, I just want to ask and get a second opinion...

I just replaced a failed system hard drive and reinstalled EVERYTHING... Everything is running perfectly now... except the old computer (i7 first ed)  has decided to show its age...
NOTE: This is a very low demand server; however, Plex media server has started to say not enough horse power :)

So is there any chance of just removing my new hard drive from an HP and dropping it into a Newer Dell (and saving me a lot of work...)

I assume no (given my Windows experience); however, I have HIGH HOPES Linux will show yet how much better it is...

Thanks,
Jeff Little

Since upgrading I have experienced the following issues.
(Perhaps a numbered list would help others add to the list and when resolved the list can be updated)

1010 - GUI Issues
1011 - GUI - Any option with additional items (Click multiple options show in the GUI they have "<") none work
1012 - GUI DNS - it opens; however, clicking to change things on that menu fails

1020 - DNS issues - I join others knowing there are DNS issues; however, due to the GUI issues and my limited LINUX experience - not much I can try.  I can and will use the cmd line, I just don't know where to start yet.

Installation and Upgrades / December 5 - Still no upgrade button to 6.x
« on: December 05, 2018, 04:41:30 pm »
I still don't see the button.  Is something wrong, or should I continue to wait.

I see an upgrade to 5.1.3 and clicking it takes me to a web site, instead of upgrading...

Any clues or just reinstall 6.x from scratch (tiny user environment, so not too hard to do)

Thanks,
Jeff

Here is the message that greeted me today...  Mind you I am following the principle "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" at this point, and I know this would probably break my server....  Any word when an update MIGHT appear?

This is a Zentyal Server (Development Edition).

Installation and Upgrades / SAMBA created shares
« on: August 15, 2014, 09:13:10 pm »
First, to get it up front, I am new to Linux, Samba, Ubuntu, and Zentyal.  I am trying to make the move from Microsoft....

I have my Zentyal Server 3.5 up and going.  I have joined 2 workstations to the new Samba created Active Directory Domain.

I have created a share \win-srv\share\T  and shared it (as "T") with the GUI allowing me (administrator access)

When I try to copy from my Windows workstation to \\zentyal\T I get two strange results
1. When I drag the whole pile of files and folders my windows wks says - not enough space
2. From windows I can move single files OR a folder with just files in it.  However if the folder has folders = not enough space.

I have about 1.5 Tb free space, so space is not an issue.  I also found the commands to disable quotas and did that too.

Thanks for any assistance.
