Good afternoon everyone.

I am being forced into reinstalling Zentyal due to loads of errors, I think the drive is failing.

I have 2 drives in the machine, one was purley for the user files/shares and the other small drive was for Zentyal.

I need to be able to keep all the user data files, shares and profiles safe so that once I have installed the system on the new drive I can just get them all back and running as if nothing had been done.

Can somone please advise what files I need to save and copy back to the new instalation to ensure nothing is lost.

Many Thanks

« on: June 24, 2012, 06:34:16 pm »
Not had the need to log into the server for months, but tried today and some strange things are happening.

The admin account that I set up just for general setup has been disabled, I had to log in as root.

Secondly I can not access the dashboard at all

have tried from the server ans within the network, all I get it the it Works! page.

have tried all the following and yes I am using the https the S is there !!!

https://192.168.1.100
https://192.168.1.100/Dashboard/Index
on both the server and within the network

on the server have tried the above and
https://localhost

and again all I get is It works! This is the default web page for this server.
The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet.

I can see no reason for this to have stopped working, I need to access the dashboard
and yes I AM  USING HTTPS

Did you ever sort this out? My firewall decided to kill my connection to my cloud  backup around the same time.

6
Nearly 2 weeks on and still no resolution.

Can anybody help at all ?

this is just stupid now

NOTHING will connect to the outside world on this server anymore.

I have internet access only

VNC will not work
Spideroak wil not work
JUNGLEDISK WILL NOT WORK

there have been no changes made to my router/firewall, it just all gone tits up.

is there anything I can run or check to see whats happening.

Thanks

I am not sure, but I think the firewall has blocked my server backup tool from connecting to the internet, This was working fine up until around the 8-10 of January, possibly an update has caused it.

Does anyone use Jungledisk, if so are there any problems I should be looking out for ??

Many Thanks

Actually, NO backup tool will connect to the internet, I have tried turning off Firewall in modules, but then I can not access the internet anymore from the server.

Any help would be great

there must have been an issue with the first installation, this time round everything is working as it should, logons and offs work as they should, and much quicker than first time round.

Thanks for all the help on this, but on this occasion the full reinstall was the way to go.

Had enough, getting various errors and other access denied problems.

Gonna bite the bullet and reinstall Zentyal on a new bigger hard drive and see if that sorts out all the problems.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunatly Every new account is the same no matter what username I give them.

Hi everyone

Have this continious problem with 2 roaming profile accounts on my domain, one is my own one and the other is another user,  everytime we log off we get the same issue which is the windows error "windows cannot update your roaming profile " blah blah and at the end it says DETAL:Access is denied.

using latest version of zentyal with all updates, workstations are all XP pro, it doesnt matter which machine we try it on these 2 profiles always say the same on log off, other profiles work OK except for one which has another error.

Have tried the following

Deleted user from Zentyal, have deleted all user files and directories for the 2 accounts from the server home directory, have deleted all files and folders from the XP machines, have removed the user profiles in REGEDIT.

have created the accounts again but still the same.

Also any new accounts I set up do the same, is there anything else I should be doing of checking ??

hi

sorry for the delay in replying, I went away for the weekend :)

if I leave this line /dev/sdb1 /main/ vfat user,umask=000 0 0 in fstab to automount the drive on boot then I get the cant mount main error on boot, have to hit S to skip and it will then boot OK, but the old drive which was originally sda1is then changed to sdb1, if I change the fstab to /dev/sda1 /main/ vfat user,umask=000 0 0, and reboot, I still have to hit S to skip and boot, but the drive letters don't change and I can then change fstab back to /dev/sdb1 /main/ vfat user,umask=000 0 0 and mount manually and everything works OK.

once manually mounted if I type mount I get
Code: [Select]
/dev/mapper/server-root on / type ext4 (rw,errors=remount-ro,usrquota,grpquota,acl)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
none on /sys type sysfs (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
none on /sys/fs/fuse/connections type fusectl (rw)
none on /sys/kernel/debug type debugfs (rw)
none on /sys/kernel/security type securityfs (rw)
none on /dev type devtmpfs (rw,mode=0755)
none on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,noexec,nosuid,gid=5,mode=0620)
none on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev)
none on /var/run type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,mode=0755)
none on /var/lock type tmpfs (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
none on /lib/init/rw type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,mode=0755)
/dev/sda1 on /boot type ext2 (rw)
/dev/sdb1 on /main type vfat (rw)

My current fstab is

Code: [Select]
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid -o value -s UUID' to print the universally unique identifier
# for a device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name
# devices that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#
# <file system> <mount point>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
proc            /proc           proc    nodev,noexec,nosuid 0       0
/dev/mapper/server-root /               ext4    errors=remount-ro,usrquota,grpquota,acl 0       1
#/boot was on /dev/sda1 during installation
UUID=d5045cd7-331a-4cb1-b81c-ad976b7659b9 /boot           ext2    defaults        0       2
/dev/mapper/server-swap_1 none            swap    sw              0       0
/dev/sdb1 /main/ vfat user,umask=000 0 0

Now I have another problem, the boot/ root drive was alway sda1 but since I got this share to work it has now changed to sdb, which has now messed everything else up , I can no longer mount the new drive.

If Type mount /dev/sdb1 I get the error that it is already mounted

If I type mount /dev/sda1 then I get the error can't find /dev/sda1 in fstab

Have changed fstab line from sdb1 to sda1 keeping it the same as above but still the same
