Installation and Upgrades / Re: Root emails ?
« on: September 11, 2010, 01:00:56 am »
Hi,

Thanks, I knew that but I was afraid to break something doing it, because zentyal manages a lot of configuration files.

Don't you think it should be handled by Zentyal? I mean that the admin user created at install time should be the one that receive those administrative emails. So the redirection needs to be set at install time and that admin user should have access to its mailbox.

I am a tech so it is ok. But taking the case of a non tech user, he can get surprised of disk space going lower and lower because of the root mailbox growing everyday.

Regards.

I seen it but wasn't sure as one said

FYI, the changes indicated so far are valid as they are necessary to get at least some DNS working. However, my clients were still failing to get local static and dynamic DHCP assignment into the DNS.

And there is no official support's answer to confirm or not ...

Installation and Upgrades / [solved] Root emails ?
« on: September 10, 2010, 01:15:53 am »
Hello,

I have setup my Zentyal box with an administrator user account So, I supposed that account is the one that receives important mail notice (like crons, snort reports etc) But:

1) I cannot connect to webmail using that account
2) looking in /var/mail, I notice that root is the one that receive those emails

So, how am I supposed to read those emails ? Is there a setting in Zentyal web interface to configure root mails redirection to a valid email account ?

Best regards

Hi,

No, sorry, I won't remove AppArmor for that. When is the fix sheduled? I can't find anything about that in Trac tickets?

Is that permission issue so complicated to solve?

Best regards

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal have Very Bad Public support!
« on: September 10, 2010, 12:51:39 am »
Hello,

I must admit this is true. Searching the forums I find a lot of the problems I encounter but this threads do not provide real solutions from Zentyal team.

I also find that Zentyal is full of bugs. It is not stable and should have stayed in beta much longer. Saying it is stable is like lying to us and is source of trouble.  I prefer to use a stable quality beta than a beta quality stable product.

So my final note is that I will continue using it for my own office, only because it is the only product of its type based on Ubuntu. But I am truly scared to install it for my customers, whereas I planned it along with buying yearly support for them. How could I do it when some blocking bugs do not get true answers like, status update, fix schedule and so.

You have done great work, guys, thanks. But there is definitely something to do with technical support and blocking bugs fixing.

Best regards

Hello,

I have just setup my zentyal box to replace my "old" SMEserver.

It is a fresh install. When setting up local network DHCP I have found that setting a dynamic domain for DHCP prevents the service from starting, giving the error:

Sep  9 17:03:39 zen init: ebox.dhcpd3 main process ended, respawning
Sep  9 17:03:39 zen dhcpd: Can't open /etc/bind/keys: Permission denied

Disabling that dynamic domain option, I can start and use the service.

Although, dynamic domain can be deactivated but the domain name field can't be cleared.

Regards.

[note: isn't there a proper place to report bugs?]
