Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal 7 install w/o gui
« on: August 16, 2021, 09:35:24 am »
Hello there,

You have to authenticate with the Ubuntu system user (any system user that belongs to the sudo group can login to the Zentyal GUI). After this, you can start with the configuration wizard.

Thanks for the feedback - We will make this clarification in the official documentation as well.

Hi Gabor,

Before moving forward with the upgrade, check out the fully updated upgrade docs at:

Hello there,

Thanks for reporting the issue with downloads. Are you using Chrome? The files are served using HTTP ( so your browser might be blocking the downloads. While we look at serving the files over HTTPS, you can try using another browser or downloading the files from SourceForge (

Hello there,

To manage Zentyal (via CLI and GUI), you need to have access to the 'root' user of the system or to a user that belongs to the 'sudo' group of the system. If you don´t have access to any of these, you can recover a forgotten 'root' password following this tutorial:

If you are interested in a Commercial Zentyal Edition and official support, do not hesitate to contact the Sales Team at sales (at) to find out about available options.

Hello there,

Upgrade path to 7.0 has not been released yet, so there shouldn´t be a mention to 7.0. If you are effectively seeing a mention to 7.0, please open an issue on GitHub ( providing all the details of the error, together with screenshots.

For the moment you could upgrade to 6.2 (if you are in a previous version), see:

Hello there,

The free 45-day Trial of the Commercial Edition will stop working after the Trial period. If you are not evaluating the Commercial Edition, it is better to install the Development Edition directly  :).

Best regards.
