Does anyone have any idea?

Or is Zentyal a dead product and i should be looking at different solution?

As i looked at the bug tracker and this has been a reported since Feburary. One would guess that if this was an active ecosystem it would have been fixed by now.

Email and Groupware / User Mail filters not filtering in Zentyal 5.0
« on: July 20, 2017, 10:32:34 pm »
So i just recently installed Zentyal on a fresh server. I was looking through and found that if I log into the webmail and go to Preferences > Mail > Filters. Then create a filter like so:

Then from that email address in the rule (which is different from the one I have created in Zentyal) and email my self. The email shows up in the inbox and is never moved.

I'm not sure how to go about trouble shooting this and before i move my primary email accounts over to Zentyal i need to figure this out. Otherwise my inbox will get overwhelmed with the amount of automated reports that gets emailed to my self.

Anyone got any advise as to where to start looking? I did go into /var/vmail/sieve but there was nothing there.

There is not, there is only "binary-amd64" directory in:

/dists/trusty/extras/

Which is why i'm thinking the media that was uploaded might be miss built.

I did also send in a email in, but thought it would be good to ask here as well.

The link sent to me only had the zentyal-4.2-commercial-amd64.iso listed for the commercial version. Which is the version i need to test as I need access to the auto inbox refresh feature. So I wanted to make sure it was fully functional be we went forward with a purchase and migration.

I've downloaded the media from the portal 5 times now. Same result each time.

The md5's do match what is listed on the portal.
[root@obo ~]# md5sum zentyal-4.2-commercial-amd64.iso
bf625f436103263619cc84cfc1c5f7eb  zentyal-4.2-commercial-amd64.iso

Could the iso it's self be miss built?

I have checked that the machine has internet access. I noticed a "Save Logs" in the list of options and was able to access them via the little web server that starts up. So i do know the internet access is there.

I should also point out this is the commercial trial edition.

When looking at the log I noticed the following lines:

Installation and Upgrades / Comercial Version Installing Fails
« on: February 16, 2016, 04:51:16 pm »
So, i've been trying to install Zentyal, but it keeps failing at "Setup and Configure Software".

I'm not sure what's wrong. I've tired both the express and advance install process. Though i don't know if there is an install log.

What can i do to find out the problem and so i can find out how to solve it?

Hello,

I was reading that in May the 2.3v of Open Change that was released had finally put in the automatic Outlook inbox refresh.

I am wondering if Zentyal has updated to the 2.3v of Open Change yet?

This was the big breaker for me to migrate our SBS servers to Zentyal.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: SOGo Geo IP Blocking
« on: January 07, 2015, 09:06:03 pm »
I would actually recommend doing a IPtables GeoIP blocking. Depending on which debain base your using, you will want install Xtables or patch-o-matic. When you block on the firewall tables you can get total blocking, not just for a specific services.

I use Xtables on all my fedora based servers for blocking all non USA connections. Never have problems with it.
Typically my firewalls are setup
My Static IPS first int he INPUT list then followed by these 5 commands:
iptables -A INPUT -m conntrack --ctstate RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT
iptables -N LOGGING
iptables -A LOGGING -m limit --limit 2/min -j LOG --log-prefix "IPTables-GeoIP-Dropped: "
iptables -A LOGGING -j REJECT --reject-with icmp-net-unreachable
iptables -A INPUT -m geoip  ! --source-country US -j LOGGING

The first 1 allows for traffic that I started from the server to allows be allowed. Other wise you run the risk of connecting to a blocked country server and not able to get a response back.
The next 3 creates a iptables chain to log all the rejected connection from the GeoIP tables.
The last checks the incoming IP to see if it's not from the US. If it is it will send it to the logging chain.

Here is a article for setting up GeoIP XTable Addon for Ubuntu
http://blog.jeshurun.ca/technology/block-countries-ubuntu-iptables-xtables-geoip

This sort of setup should not affect much of the Zentyal's operations (updates and the like). Only thing i could for see is possible issues with the firewall module.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Problems with Outlook Connections

I  guess you know the issue that OpenChange does not yet update the folders automatically so you have to use SHIFT+F9 to Update All Folders - we are desperately waiting for this embarrassment to be resolved (our clients cannot believe it ...) - if you have done this and it is not resolved, try removing the OST file and sync again - if there was a pre-existing OST file Outlook may fail to access the file and therefore cannot populate it.

Yes I happen to to stumble on this. I guess my expectations of this system were far to high given the "Drop in replacement" claim. Since you have to have cache mode enabled. Which was also a problem because it did not say that had to be enabled. The whole pushing to outlook has been a problem in my tests. I also find it funny that i can not run Z-push or Sogo Activesync with SSL. I also could not get Z-Push to function at all.

As I said, maybe my expectations for this as a true drop in replacement for our old SBS servers were way to tight considering the problems i've seen and the coaching that needs to take place to get things to work.

Installation and Upgrades / Problems with Outlook Connections
« on: December 29, 2014, 07:28:49 pm »
Hello,

I recently stumbled on Zentyal and thought i would give it try to replace our MS SBS servers. So far i'm liking what i've seen, though i have only played with it for about a day at the moment.

There are 2 things I'm currently "playing with", but having problems figuring out. 1 of them is connecting Outlook to Zentyal.

Now I have read through https://wiki.zentyal.org/wiki/En/4.0/OpenChange_(Microsoft(R)_Exchange_Server_protocol_implementation) and outlook will connect, but I can not see any mail in the mailbox (there are currently 6 items). I know it's connected as outlook does show "Online with Microsoft Exchange" in the button right hand corner. I can even create events in the outlook calendar and they show up in the webmail, but vanish from outlook.

So it's a little weird to me. Any help on where to look to find the cause would be great.
