Installation and Upgrades / Re: Upgrade Path to 5.0
« on: December 28, 2016, 09:34:05 pm »
Any more information on this topic. Really do not want to loose the membership of my windows clients and other devices that are registered. So I see it as the following steps that need details:
  • Upgrade OS from 14.x to 16.x
  • Upgrade Zentyal from 4.2.2 to 5.x

If this is not possible is there some sort of back I can do of the samba database and import into a fresh 5.x system.

TIA

Looking for an upgrade or migration path to move from 4.2.2 to 5.0 without loosing domain membership.

Login via SSH to your zentyal system and cd to /etc/cron.d. One of the files in there has an entry for that script (which is no longer used) and delete the entry.

Hope this helps

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Mail to root from root
« on: May 28, 2015, 06:27:00 pm »
To find out what these are you need SSH into your Zentyal system and edit (using sudo) /etc/aliases and add an entry like so:
        root: <your.admin@yourdomain.com>
The run the command newaliases with sudo.

This will send all e-mail destined for the root account to the address you defined above.

Hope this helps.

This has been removed. You need to install RSAT tools on one of your windows systems attached to the domain to manage GPO.

Hope this helps.

How do your devices get there IP address? Do all three networks use DHCP? If so what system is handling out DHCP, Is it zentyal? If it is not zentyal then what? Have you checked your firewall rules?

Hopefully you can see a pattern here, that you need to provide a little detail on your network.

How are your internal hosts getting their IP addresses? Also are the ones that do not resolve are they not part of the DOMAIN? Please provide a little more information to assist with the issue at hand.

You did not mention how any of your subnets are getting their addresses. Do you have any forwarders? How are you configuring your DNS (WebGUI or RSAT tools). In short to be able to assist will need more detailed information.

Sorry could not help more.

You would need to do it with the RSAT tool on a windows system attached to your zentyal

Hope this helps.

Web components was removed and now is in the contrib. Search the forums for the steps on how to add contrib modules.

This has been removed. You need to use the RSAT tools on a windows based system to adjust the group policies.

I think I found the issue I my end. I was missing the sogo-activsync plugin. Not sure if I am going to stay with this one or give z-push a run.

Instead of editing /etc/bin/named.conf.local create a file with just your editions and then create a hook in /etc/zentyal/hooks/ for DNS with something like:

echo "incude </path/to/filename> > /etc/bind/named.conf.local

Hope this helps
