Installation and Upgrades / Any easy to set up cloud backup services?
« on: September 24, 2013, 05:30:16 pm »
Just curious as the Zentyal cloud is still in beta last I saw.  Has anybody used any specific cloud plugins or installations on 3.2 and later?  I've been out of the Zentyal game for a little bit, but having another look at it.  I'd say I'm an intermediate skill level.  I'm looking for something I can provide to my smaller clients that will just give them a central place to store their files, and back it up to a cloud service of some kind.  The other things Zentyal does are just a bonus.

Installation and Upgrades / Problem with Asterisk/VoIP functionality
« on: March 04, 2011, 04:21:32 pm »
So I've been playing around with this a bit... purchased a trunk from SIPStation.com - and I'm having troubles.  I can call from extension to extension, and I can call outbound, but inbound calls just "drop" without ever ringing through.

So the issues are:
-Can't get inbound calls
-Outbound caller ID - how to set in Zentyal?
-Voicemail waiting indicator - have checked my mailbox, says there are no messages, but I have the message indicator light.

I have a Linksys SPA 962 phone, and the latest everything of Zentyal.

I have the NAT portion set that Zentyal is behind nat: Public IP Address and have the public IP address of my router, which is set to forward port 5060 to 192.168.1.20, which is my Zentyal server.

Would love some help, and/or the ability to administer Asterisk a bit better.

This is what I see... Tried restarting the module.  All I've done with this box is apply updates to it; haven't made any config changes in quite some time.  Any ideas?

Installation and Upgrades / How to set up a program to run on startup?
« on: November 07, 2010, 07:51:19 pm »
I use SpiderOak for backup, and it only runs when I start it on the Ubuntu desktop.  I'm not very experienced with the command line, so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome.

Also, is there something that is the equivalent of Remote Desktop that I can use, so that I don't have to physically be in front of the machine to use the windows-type interface, or is SSH to a command shell the only option?

Installation and Upgrades / Need to get Zarafa working with Outlook
« on: November 07, 2010, 07:49:37 pm »
As I understand it, to get a true exchange type replacement, for up to 3 Outlook/Exchange type users, it needs to be converted from the OSS edition of Zarafa to the Community edition.

What I would like is someone who has experience with this to post a how-to.  I have Zarafa set up, and I can kind of/sort of get some parts of it working through thunderbird.  It would be a completely useless set up for anything but an IT professional such as myself.

I'd love some sort of choice when installing it to choose the ability to install the Community edition right from the Zentyal packages, but at the very least, I'd like the confidence that I can install this and have it work for people with much less effort than what I've had to put into it to just get basic functionality out of it.

I'd be happy to be the guinea pig to help test that out.  Also, there needs to be an easy method to go from Community to a fully licensed version for people with more than 3 outlook users.

Installation and Upgrades / Thunderbird/Lightning/CalDAV/Firewall
« on: October 13, 2010, 04:55:47 pm »
Trying to get my calendar to synch up with Zarafa in Thunderbird with the lightning plug in.  It is saying The Calendar (user) is momentarily not available.

I'm seeing this in the firewall log, where its dropping my request to port 8080, but that could have been when I entered in the http address in my web browser, not sure.  Anybody good with this?

Installation and Upgrades / Zarafa/Exchange/Outlook/IMAP
« on: October 10, 2010, 03:52:25 am »
Setting up my mail account on my iPhone.  I was able to get mail to send and receive using IMAP - I had to open up the following ports on my router and forward them to the internal IP of my server:

25 Incoming mail
80 Incoming /webaccess
143 Incoming IMAP
443 Incoming https
587 (Im told its used for exchange, may not even be needed)
993 SSL port for incoming mail

Now, I want access to the calendar and contacts, so I'm trying to set it up as an Exchange ActiveSync account.  No dice.  Have no idea what I'm doing with this one.

Anyone have better luck?  I could try on Outlook as well, just need to know what I have to do on Zentyal to get that part working.

So now I can access my Zarafa from the outside world... but now I can't get machines to see each other with Samba or even ping.

My current setup:

eth0 -> 192.168.1.20 internal
eth1 -> 192.168.1.22 external

Did away with the wireless completely, just using two wired connections.  Have my windows pc, which is .100, added to every list in the firewall settings I can find.  I can't ping either interface from my windows machine, and can't ping my windows machine from the Zentyal machine.

I'm not sure if it's just me, or if this is par for the course, but everything I fix seems to break 10 other things.

Also, when I browse the web from the Zentyal machine, DNS lookups seem to take FOREVER.  I have my router (192.168.1.1) set as a default gateway, on both Zentyal and my windows machine.  Some pages don't load at all, or I have to take 3 or 4 tries at it to get it to work.  Something is definitely wrong; it wasn't doing this before.

Also, my router no longer shows the host name of the machine under attached devices; just it's IP address.

Please help!

When I telnet to the internal IP of my Zentyal box, I get postfix.  I can ping everything on the inside network, and I can access the internet.

Used to (until today) be able to go to mydomain.com/webaccess - using MXtoolbox.com I'm finding none of the ports are open.  I double checked my router settings that it is being forwarded on ports 25 and 80 to the correct internal port.

The only two things I can think of is the firewall module is somehow broken (even though I checked this and made sure that the router's local IP can get through, and ports 25 and 80 are unblocked on the external interface), or possibly that my ISP has suddenly blocked those ports.  I double checked as they have an online config tool for opening ports 25 and 80 on your cable modem, but I figured I'd ask if there are some neat command line tricks I can try rather than banging my head into a wall.

Installation and Upgrades / USB Keyboard Not Detected [SOLVED]
« on: October 06, 2010, 04:35:29 pm »
Plugged in a USB keyboard on the fly, didn't detect it.

Searched everywhere, couldn't find anything that would work.

Solution?  A reboot :-)

While I'm glad it was easy, would have preferred not to have to reboot!

Just in case anybody else runs into this same thing.

Installation and Upgrades / interfaces file overwritten - how to fix
« on: October 04, 2010, 06:51:34 pm »
http://www.cripperz.org/index.php/forum/21-Ubuntu-Linux/203--KB--Setting-permanent-wireless-settings-to-interfaces.html

I had set up my WPA access, etc. and every time I made changes from the dashboard or updated modules, it messed up my config.  You have to do this from the above link:

/usr/share/ebox/ebox-update-file-digest network /etc/network/interfaces

I keep a spare copy of my interfaces file on my desktop, so I open up an admin window and do this:

cd /etc/network
cp /home/user/Documents/interfaces . (note the dot at the end)
/usr/share/ebox/ebox-update-file-digest network /etc/network/interfaces

then:

cd /etc/init.d
./networking restart

That last bit restarts the networking and reloads the DHCP address for the wireless, etc.

Hope somebody else finds this helpful :-)

Installation and Upgrades / Manually install a .deb package in Zentyal

Did this to get the SpiderOak installation package working.

Hi, running Zentyal 2.0+ with all the latest updates for all the modules, etc.  Have SMB and Zarafa working fine, can webmail, can access thru windows, etc.

One issue I'm having is that the shares I created with Zarafa.  One of them is just a generic "Documents" folder that I use to drop stuff into from my PC.  I want to be able to browse that folder.  I'm logged in to the Zentyal box as my admin user, created during installation, but I have no permissions to be able to access it.

I tried adding that user as a user in Zarafa, but it says the user already exists as a local user.  So, I either need to figure out a way to get the local user added into that interface on Zentyal, or some other workaround.

I did search around for an answer, but I couldn't really find anything that seemed to apply to me.
